915 βάρβαρος，ον 形容词
一、“说外语的，陌生的，未开化之语言的”。形容词或名词用法： 林前十四11（参诗一一四1）。
二、“非希腊的，外国的，化外的”。实名词：“希腊以外之人，外国人，化外人”。与希腊人相对－ Ἕλληνες καὶ βαρβάροι 希利尼人和化外人，罗一14。罗马人不愿被列在β.中，参西三11。指米利大之居民，无贬抑之意味，徒二八2、4。*

1) one whose speech is rude, rough and harsh
2) one who speaks a foreign or strange language which is not
　 understood by another
3) used by the Greeks of any foreigner ignorant of the Greek
　 language, whether mental or moral, with the added notion after
　 the Persian war, of rudeness and brutality. The word is used
　 in the N.T. without the idea of reproachfulness.
