在我老旧天性里面，己是强而有力：自信、自爱、自夸、自耀，全都随着己意。己的各面必须拒绝，必须置于死地，我才能进灵中迦南，得享主作安息。

那篡夺你宝座的己，主啊，救我脱离！愿“我”失去在你里面，永远不得复辟。哦主，使我脱离自信，脱离自满、自足；完全以你作我能力，并作我的住处。
Oh, save me from self-will, dear Lord,
Which claims Thy sacred throne;
Oh! Let my will be lost in Thine,

救我脱离己的寻求，不再为着自己；使我总是躺在祭坛，献上作你活祭。脱离骄傲、夸耀、显扬，脱离虚荣、美誉，只以基督为我夸耀，唯独将祂高举。
