Healing for the Glorification of God
And Jesus departed from there and came beside the Sea of Galilee; and He went up to the mountain and sat there.
And great crowds came to Him, having with them the lame, the blind, the crippled, the dumb, and many other sick ones; and they laid them at His feet, and He healed them,
So that the crowd marveled, because they saw the dumb speaking, the crippled healthy and the lame walking, and the blind seeing. And they glorified the God of Israel.

The Miracle of Feeding Four Thousand
And Jesus called His disciples to Him and said, I am moved with compassion for the crowd, because for three days now they have remained with Me and they do not have anything to eat. And I am not willing to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.
And the disciples said to Him, Where can we get so many loaves in this desolate place to satisfy so great a crowd?
And Jesus said to them, How many loaves do you have? And they said, Seven, and a few small fish.
And after He commanded the crowd to recline on the ground,
He took the seven loaves and the fish, and giving thanks, He broke them and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples to the crowds.
And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up what was left over of the broken pieces, seven baskets full.
And those who ate were four thousand men, apart from women and children.
And after He sent the crowds away, He stepped into the boat and came to the borders of Magadan.

Temptation by the Fundamentalists and the Modernists

And the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked Him to show them a sign out of heaven.
耶稣就回答他们说,黄昏到了,你们说,天要晴,因为天发红;
But He answered and said to them, When evening falls, you say, There will be fair weather, for the sky is red;
And in the morning, It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and gloomy. The face of the sky you know how to discern, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.
An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and a sign shall not be given to it, except the sign of Jonah. And He left them and went away.
And when the disciples came to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
And Jesus said to them, Watch and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
But they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we did not take bread.
And Jesus, knowing it, said, Why are you reasoning among yourselves, you of little faith, because you have no bread?
Do you not yet understand nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how many handbaskets you took up?
Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand and how many baskets you took up?
How is it that you do not understand that it was not about bread that I spoke to you? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
Then they understood that He did not say to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

And Jacob called to his sons and said, Gather yourselves together that I may tell you what will happen to you in the last days.
Assemble yourselves, and listen, O sons of Jacob; / Yes, listen to Israel your father.
Reuben, you are my firstborn, / My might and the firstfruits of my vigor, / Preeminent in dignity and preeminent in power.
Ebullient as water, you will not have the preeminence, / Because you went up to your father's bed; / Then you defiled it — he went up to my couch.
Simeon and Levi are brothers; / Weapons of violence are their swords.
Come not into their council, O my soul; / Be not united with their assembly, O my glory; / For in their anger they slew men, / And in their self-will they hamstrung oxen.
Cursed be their anger, for it is fierce; / And their wrath, for it is cruel: / I will divide them in Jacob, / And scatter them in Israel.
Judah, your brothers will praise you; / Your hand will be on the neck of your enemies; / Your father's sons will bow down before you.
Judah is a young lion; / From the prey, my son, you have gone up. / He couches, he stretches out like a lion, / And like a lioness; who will rouse him up?
The scepter will not depart from Judah, / Nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, / Until Shiloh comes, / And to Him shall be the obedience of the peoples.
Binding his foal to the vine, / And his donkey's colt to the choice vine, / He washes his garment in wine, / And his robe in the blood of grapes.
Dark are his eyes with wine, / And white are his teeth with milk.
Zebulun will dwell at the shore of the sea, / And he will be a shore for ships, / And his flank will be toward Sidon.
Issachar is a strong donkey, / Couching between the sheepfolds.
And he saw a resting place that was good / And the land that was pleasant, / And he bowed his shoulder to bear, / And became a task-worker to bring tribute.
Dan will judge his people, / As one of the tribes of Israel.
Dan will be a serpent in the way, / A viper on the path, / That bites the horse's heels, / So that his rider falls backward.
I have waited for Your salvation, O Jehovah.
Gad, raiders will raid him, / But he will raid at their heel.

Joseph is a fruitful bough, / A fruitful bough by a fountain; / His branches run over the wall.
The archers bitterly attacked him, / And shot at him and harassed him;
But his bow remained firm, / And the arms of his hands were agile, / By the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob — / From there is the Shepherd, the stone of Israel —
From the God of your father, who will help you, / And from the All-sufficient One, who will bless you / With blessings of heaven above, / Blessings of the deep that lies beneath, / Blessings of the breasts and of the womb.
The blessings of your father surpass / The blessings of my ancestors / To the utmost bound of the everlasting hills. / They will be on the head of Joseph, / And on the crown of the head of the one who was separate from his brothers.
Benjamin is a ravenous wolf, / In the morning devouring the prey / And in the evening dividing the spoil.
All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father spoke to them when he blessed them; he blessed them, each one according to his blessing.

Departing in an Excellent Way
And he charged them and said to them, I am being gathered to my people. Bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,
In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought along with the field from Ephron the Hittite for the possession of a burial place —
There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife, there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife, and there I buried Leah —
The field and the cave that is in it, purchased from the children of Heth.
And when Jacob had finished charging his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed and expired, and he was gathered to his people.

Then Joseph fell upon his father's face and wept over him and kissed him.
And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father. So the physicians embalmed Israel.
And forty days were spent for this, for this is the time to be spent for embalming. And the Egyptians wept for him seventy days.
And when the days of weeping for him had passed, Joseph spoke to the house of Pharaoh, saying, If I have found favor in your eyes, please speak in the hearing of Pharaoh, saying,
My father made me swear, saying, Now I am about to die; in my grave which I dug for myself in the land of Canaan, there shall you bury me. Now therefore please let me go up and bury my father; then I will return.
And Pharaoh said, Go up, and bury your father, as he made you swear.
And Joseph went up to bury his father; and all the servants of Pharaoh went up with him, the elders of his house and all the elders of the land of Egypt,
And all the house of Joseph and his brothers and his father's household; they left only their little ones and their flocks and their herds in the land of Goshen.
And chariots also went up with him, as well as horsemen; and it was a very great company.
And they came to the threshing floor of Atad, which is beyond the Jordan, and they lamented there with a very great and grievous lamentation; and he observed seven days of mourning for his father.
And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning at the threshing floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning for the Egyptians. Therefore the name of it was called Abel-mizraim, which is beyond the Jordan.
And thus his sons did to him as he commanded them;
For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre, which Abraham had bought with the field for a possession of a burial place from Ephron the Hittite.

The Reigning Aspect as Seen in Joseph — cont'd)
l

And after he had buried his father, Joseph returned into Egypt, he and his brothers and all who went up with him to bury his father.
And when Joseph's brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, What if Joseph bears a grudge against us and pays us back in full for all the evil which we did to him?
And they sent a message to Joseph, saying, Your father charged before he died, saying,
Thus shall you say to Joseph, Please forgive the transgression of your brothers and their sin, for they did you wrong. So now please forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of your father. And Joseph wept when they spoke to him.
And his brothers also went and fell down before him and said, We are here as your servants.
And Joseph said to them, Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God?
Even though you intended evil against me, God intended it for good, to do as it is this day, to preserve alive a numerous people.
Now therefore do not be afraid; I will sustain you and your little ones. And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.
And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he and his father's household; and Joseph lived one hundred ten years.
And Joseph saw Ephraim's children of the third generation; the children of Machir the son of Manasseh were also born on Joseph's knees.
And Joseph said to his brothers, I am about to die, but God will surely visit you and bring you up out of this land to the land which He swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
And Joseph made the children of Israel swear, saying, God will surely visit you, and you shall bring my bones up from here.
And Joseph died, being one hundred ten years old; and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.
