Subject:The Gospel of the Kingdom — Proving That Jesus Christ Is the King-Savior

MatthewChapter 1
The book of the generation of  1Jesus  2Christ, the  3son of David, the  4son of Abraham:
Abraham begot  1Isaac, and Isaac begot  2Jacob, and Jacob begot  3Judah and his  4brothers,
And Judah begot  1Pharez and Zarah of  2Tamar, and Pharez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Aram,
And Aram begot Aminadab, and Aminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon,
And Salmon begot Boaz of  1Rahab, and  2Boaz begot Obed of  3Ruth, and Obed begot  4Jesse,
And Jesse begot  1David the  2king. And David begot  3Solomon of her who had been the  4wife of Uriah,
And Solomon begot  1Rehoboam, and Rehoboam begot Abijah, and Abijah begot Asa,
And Asa begot Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat begot Joram, and  1Joram begot Uzziah,
And Uzziah begot Jotham, and Jotham begot Ahaz, and Ahaz begot Hezekiah,
And Hezekiah begot Manasseh, and Manasseh begot Amon, and Amon begot Josiah.
And  1Josiah begot  2Jeconiah and his  3brothers at the time of the  4deportation to Babylon.
And after the  1deportation to Babylon, Jeconiah begot Salathiel, and Salathiel begot  2Zerubbabel,
And Zerubbabel begot Abiud, and Abiud begot Eliakim, and Eliakim begot Azor,
And Azor begot Zadok, and Zadok begot Achim, and Achim begot Eliud,
And Eliud begot Eleazar, and Eleazar begot Matthan, and Matthan begot Jacob,
And  1Jacob begot  2Joseph the husband of  3Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called  4Christ.
Thus  1all the generations from Abraham  2until David are fourteen generations, and from David  3until the deportation to Babylon, fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon  4until the Christ, fourteen generations.
Now the origin of Jesus Christ was in this way: His mother, Mary, after she had been engaged to Joseph, before they came together, was found to be with child  1of the Holy Spirit.
And Joseph her husband, being  1righteous and not willing to disgrace her openly, intended to  2send her away secretly.
But while he pondered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife, for that which has been  1begotten in her is  2of the Holy Spirit.
And she will bear a son, and you shall call His name  1Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins.
Now all this has happened so that what was spoken by the Lord through the  1prophet might be fulfilled, saying,
“Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a  1son, and they shall call His name  2Emmanuel” (which is translated, God  3with us).
And when Joseph awoke from his sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him and took to himself his wife.
And he did not know her until she  1bore a son. And he called His name Jesus.

MatthewChapter 2
Now after Jesus was born in  1Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem,
Saying, Where is He who has been born  1King of the Jews? For we saw His  2star at its rising and have come to worship Him.
And when Herod the king heard this, he was troubled and all Jerusalem with him.
And gathering together all the chief  1priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.
And they said to him, In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written through the prophet:
“And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, by no means are you the least among the  1princes of Judah; for out of you shall come forth a Ruler, One who will shepherd My people Israel.”
Then Herod, secretly calling the magi, determined accurately from them the time that the star appeared.
And sending them to Bethlehem, he said, Go and find out accurately about the child. And when you find Him, report to me, so that I also may come and worship Him.
And after they heard the king, they went their way, and behold, the  1star which they saw at its rising led them until it came and stood over the place where the child was.
And when they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.
And they came into the  1house and saw the child with Mary His mother. And falling down, they  2worshipped Him; and opening their treasures, they offered  3gifts to Him, gold and frankincense and myrrh.
And because they had been divinely instructed in a dream not to  1return to Herod, they departed by  2another way to their country.
Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph, saying, Arise, take the child and His mother and flee into Egypt, and stay there until I tell you; for Herod is going to seek the child to destroy Him.
And he arose and took the child and His mother by night and departed into Egypt,
And was there until the death of Herod, in order that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be  1fulfilled, saying, “Out of Egypt I called My  2Son.”
Then Herod, seeing that he had been mocked by the magi, became greatly enraged, and sending out men, he  1did away with all the boys who were in Bethlehem and in all its borders from two years old and under, according to the time that he had accurately determined from the magi.
At that time what was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying,
“A voice in Ramah was heard, weeping and great lamentation:  1Rachel weeping for her children, and she would not be comforted, because they are no more.”
And when Herod had died, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
Saying, Arise, take the child and His mother and go into the land of Israel, for those who seek the  1life of the child have died.
And he arose and took the child and His mother and entered into the land of Israel.
But because he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there; and having been divinely instructed in a dream, he departed into the regions of  1Galilee.
And he came and settled in a city called  1Nazareth, so that what was spoken through the  2prophets might be fulfilled, He shall be called a  3Nazarene.

MatthewChapter 3
Now in those days  1John the Baptist appeared, preaching in the  2wilderness of Judea
And saying,  1Repent, for the  2kingdom of the heavens has  3drawn near.
For this is he who was spoken of through Isaiah the prophet, saying, “A voice of one crying in the  1wilderness,  2Prepare the way of the Lord; make straight His paths.”
Now this John had his garment of  1camel's hair and a leather girdle around his loins, and his food was locusts and wild honey.
At that time Jerusalem and all Judea and all the surrounding region of the Jordan went out to him,
And they were  1baptized by him in the  2Jordan River as they confessed their sins.
But when he saw many of the  1Pharisees and  2Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, Offspring of vipers, who prompted you to flee from the coming wrath?
Produce then fruit worthy of your repentance.
And do not presume to say within yourselves, We have Abraham as our father; for I tell you that God is able, out of these stones, to  1raise up children to Abraham.
And already the axe is laid at the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that does not produce good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire.
I baptize you in water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is stronger than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He Himself will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and  1fire,
Whose winnowing fan is in His hand. And He will thoroughly cleanse His threshing floor and will gather His  1wheat into His barn, but the  1chaff He will burn up with unquenchable fire.
Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John to be  1baptized by him.
But John tried to prevent Him, saying, It is I who have need of being baptized by You, and You come to me?
But Jesus answered and said to him, Permit it for now, for it is fitting for us in this way to fulfill all  1righteousness. Then he permitted Him.
And  1having been baptized, Jesus went up immediately from the water, and behold, the  2heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the  3Spirit of God descending like a  4dove and coming upon Him.
And behold, a voice out of the heavens, saying,  1This is My Son, the Beloved, in whom I have found My delight.
