And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent to him priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who are you?

And he confessed and did not deny, and he confessed, I am not the Christ.

And they asked him, What then? Are you Elijah? And he said, I am not. Are you the Prophet? And he answered, No.

They said then to him, Who are you, that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?
于是他们说，你到底是谁？叫我们好回复差我们来的人。关于你自己，你怎么说？

He said, I am “a voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord!” as Isaiah the prophet said.
他说，我就是那在旷野里呼喊者的声音：“修直主的道路！”正如申言者以赛亚所说的。

And those who had been sent were of the Pharisees.
那些奉差遣来的，是法利赛人。

And they asked him and said to him, Why then are you baptizing if you are not the Christ nor Elijah nor the Prophet?
他们就问他说，你既不是基督，不是以利亚，也不是那申言者，那你为什么施浸？

John answered them, saying, I baptize in water; but among you stands One whom you do not know,
约翰回答说，我是在水里施浸，但有一位站在你们中间，是你们不认识的，

He who is coming after me, the thong of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie.
就是那在我以后来的，我就是给祂解鞋带也不配。

These things took place in Bethany across the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
这些事是在约但河外的伯大尼，约翰施浸的地方发生的。

The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
次日，约翰看见耶稣向他走来，就说，看哪，神的羔羊，除去世人之罪的！

This is He of whom I said, A man is coming after me who has become ahead of me, because He was before me.
这就是我曾说，有一个人在我以后来，成了在我以前的，因祂原是比我先的。

And I did not know Him, but in order that He might be manifested to Israel, for this reason I came baptizing in water.
我先前不认识祂，但为了叫祂显明给以色列人，所以我来在水里施浸。

And John testified, saying, I beheld the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He abode upon Him.
约翰又作见证说，我曾看见那灵，仿佛鸽子从天降下，停留在祂身上。

And I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water, He said to me, He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and abiding upon Him, this is He who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.
我先前不认识祂，只是那差我来在水里施浸的，对我说，你看见那灵降下来，停留在谁身上，谁就是在圣灵里施浸的。

And I have seen and have testified that this is the Son of God.
我看见了，就见证这是神的儿子。

Again the next day John was standing with two of his disciples,
再次日，约翰同他两个门徒又站在那里。

And looking at Jesus walking, he said, Behold, the Lamb of God!
他见耶稣行走，就说，看哪，神的羔羊！

And the two disciples heard him speak this, and they followed Jesus.
那两个门徒听见他所说的，就跟从了耶稣。

And Jesus, turning and beholding them following, said to them, What are you seeking? And they said to Him, Rabbi (which translated means Teacher), where are You staying?
耶稣转过身来，看见他们跟着，就问他们说，你们寻求什么？他们说，拉比，你住在哪里？（拉比翻出来，就是夫子。）

He said to them, Come, and you will see. They went therefore and saw where He was staying, and they stayed with Him that day; it was about the tenth hour.
耶稣说，你们来看。他们就去看祂住在哪里，那一天便与祂同住，那时约是上午十时。

One of the two who heard this from John and followed Him was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
听见约翰的话，跟从耶稣的那两个人中，一个是西门彼得的兄弟安得烈。

He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, We have found the Messiah (which translated means Christ).
他先找着自己的哥哥西门，对他说，我们遇见弥赛亚了（弥赛亚翻出来，就是基督）。

He led him to Jesus. Looking at him, Jesus said, You are Simon, the son of John; you shall be called Cephas (which is interpreted, Peter).
于是领他到耶稣那里。耶稣看着他说，你是约翰的儿子西门，你要称为矶法（矶法翻出来，就是彼得）。

The next day He wanted to go forth into Galilee, and He found Philip. And Jesus said to him, Follow Me.
又次日，耶稣想要往加利利去，遇见腓力，就对他说，跟从我。

Now Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and Peter.
这腓力是伯赛大人，是安得烈和彼得那城的人。

Philip found Nathanael and said to him, We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, wrote, Jesus, the son of Joseph, from Nazareth.
腓力找着拿但业，对他说，摩西在律法上所写，和众申言者所记的那一位，我们遇见了，就是约瑟的儿子拿撒勒人耶稣。

And Nathanael said to him, Can anything good be from Nazareth? Philip said to him, Come and see.
拿但业对他说，拿撒勒还能出什么好的么？腓力说，你来看。

Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him and said concerning him, Behold, truly an Israelite, in whom there is no guile!
耶稣看见拿但业向祂走来，就指着他说，看哪，这是个真以色列人，他心里是没有诡诈的。

Nathanael said to Him, How do You know me? Jesus answered and said to him, Before Philip called you, while you were under the fig tree, I saw you.
拿但业对祂说，你怎么认识我？耶稣回答说，腓力还没有招呼你，你在无花果树底下，我就看见你了。

Nathanael answered Him, Rabbi, You are the Son of God; You are the King of Israel.
拿但业说，拉比，你是神的儿子，你是以色列的王。

Jesus answered and said to him, Is it because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree that you believe? You shall see greater things than these.
耶稣说，因我对你说，我看见你在无花果树底下，你就信了么？你将要看见比这更大的事。

And He said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, You shall see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.
又对他说，我实实在在地告诉你们，你们将要看见天开了，神的使者上去下来在人子身上。

And all the people were told, saying, The king is now sitting in the gate. And all the people came before the king. Now Israel had fled, every man to his tent.
有人告诉众民说，看哪，王坐在城门口；众民就都到王面前。以色列人已经逃跑，各人回自己的帐棚去了。

And all the people quarreled throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, The king delivered us out of the hand of our enemies, and he saved us out of the hand of the Philistines; and now he has fled out of the land because of Absalom.
在以色列众支派中，众人纷纷议论说，王曾救我们脱离仇敌的手，又救我们脱离非利士人的手，现在他竟因押沙龙逃离此地。

But Absalom, whom we anointed as king over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why do you say nothing about bringing the king back?
我们所膏为王，治理我们的押沙龙，已经阵亡。现在为什么不出一言请王回来呢？

And King David sent word to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, saying, Speak to the elders of Judah, saying, Why are you the last to bring the king back to his house, seeing that the word of all Israel has come to the king?
大卫王差人去见祭司撒督和亚比亚他，说，你们当向犹大长老说，全以色列的人已经传话到王那里，你们在这事上为什么落后呢？

You are my brothers; you are my bone and my flesh. Why then are you the last to bring the king back?
你们是我的弟兄，是我的骨肉，为什么要在请王回来的事上落后呢？

And you shall say to Amasa, Are you not my bone and my flesh? May God do so to me, and even more, if you do not become captain of the army before me continually in the place of Joab.
也要对亚玛撒说，你不是我的骨肉么？你若不替约押在我面前常作军队的元帅，愿神重重地降罚与我。

And he turned the heart of all the men of Judah as one man, and they sent word to the king, saying, Return, you and all your servants.
如此，他就使犹大众人的心转变，如同一人的心。他们便打发人去见王，说，请王和王的众臣仆回来。

So the king returned and came to the Jordan, and Judah came to Gilgal to go to meet the king, to bring the king over the Jordan.
王就回来，到了约但河；犹大人来到吉甲，要去迎接王，请王过约但河。

And Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjaminite who was from Bahurim, hurried and went down with the men of Judah to meet King David.
来自巴户琳的便雅悯人，基拉的儿子示每，急忙与犹大人一同下去迎接大卫王。

And there were a thousand men with him from Benjamin; and Ziba, the attendant of the house of Saul, and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with him were there. And they rushed down to the Jordan before the king.
跟从示每的有一千便雅悯人，还有扫罗家的仆人洗巴，和他十五个儿子、二十个仆人；他们都速速地过约但河到王面前。

And the crossing was being made in order to bring the king's household over and to do whatever was good in his sight. And Shimei the son of Gera fell down before the king as he was about to cross the Jordan.
有渡船过去，渡王的家眷，照王所看为好的而行。王要过约但河的时候，基拉的儿子示每俯伏在王面前，

And he said to the king, Let not my lord consider me guilty; and do not remember how your servant did wrong on the day my lord the king went forth from Jerusalem, that the king should take it to heart.
对王说，求我主不要算我为有罪；我主我王出耶路撒冷的那日，你仆人所行悖逆的事，求我主不要记念，也不要放在心上。

For your servant knows that I have sinned; and now I have come today, the first of all the house of Joseph to come down, to meet my lord the king.
你仆人明知自己有罪，所以我今日来了；在约瑟全家之中，我是首先下来迎接我主我王的。

Then Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, for he has cursed Jehovah's anointed?
洗鲁雅的儿子亚比筛回应说，示每既咒骂耶和华的受膏者，不应当为此处死他么？

And David said, What have I to do with you, O sons of Zeruiah, that you should be an adversary to me today? Should any man in Israel be put to death today? For do I not know that today I am king over Israel?
大卫说，洗鲁雅的儿子，我与你们何干，使你们今日作我的对头呢？今日在以色列中岂可处死人呢？我岂不知今日我作以色列的王么？

And the king said to Shimei, You will not die. And the king swore so to him.
于是王对示每说，你必不死。王又向他起誓。

Then Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king. Now he had neither taken care of his feet nor trimmed his beard nor washed his clothes from the day the king left until the day he came back in peace.
扫罗的孙子米非波设也下去迎接王。他自从王离去的那天，直到王平平安安回来的日子，没有修脚，没有剃胡须，也没有洗衣服。

And when he came from Jerusalem to meet the king, the king said to him, Why did you not come with me, Mephibosheth?
他从耶路撒冷来迎接王的时候，王问他说，米非波设，你为什么没有与我同去呢？

And he said, O my lord the king, my servant deceived me; for your servant said, I will saddle myself a donkey that I may ride on it and go with the king. For your servant is lame.
他说，我主我王啊，仆人是瘸腿的。那日我心里说，我要给自己备驴骑上，与王同去，无奈我的仆人欺哄了我，

And Ziba slandered your servant before my lord the king. But my lord the king is like an angel of God; therefore do what is good in your sight.
又在我主我王面前谗毁我。然而我主我王如同神的使者一般；你看怎样好，就怎样行吧。

For all my father's house were but men worthy of death before my lord the king, but you set your servant among those who eat at your table. What further right then do I have to cry out more to the king?
因为我祖全家的人，对于我主我王，不过是该死的人，你却将仆人列于在王席上吃饭的人中，我现在还有什么道理再向王哀求呢？

And the king said to him, Why speak any more of your affairs? I say that you and Ziba shall divide the land.
王对他说，你何必再提你的事呢？我说，你要与洗巴均分地土。

And Mephibosheth said to the king, Let him even take it all, since my lord the king has arrived at his house in peace.
米非波设对王说，我主我王既平平安安地回宫，就任凭洗巴都取了也可以。

Then Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim, and he crossed over the Jordan with the king, to escort him through the Jordan.
基列人巴西莱从罗基琳下来，要送王过约但河，就与王一同过了约但河。

And Barzillai was very old, eighty years of age; and he had provided the king with food while he remained in Mahanaim, for he was a very great man.
巴西莱非常老迈，已经八十岁了。王住在玛哈念的时候，他曾供养王；他原是大富户。

And the king said to Barzillai, Cross over with me, and I will provide you with food in Jerusalem at my side.
王对巴西莱说，你与我一同过去，我要在耶路撒冷供养你，使你在我身边。

But Barzillai said to the king, How many are the days of the years of my life, that I should go up with the king to Jerusalem?
巴西莱对王说，我在世的年日还能有多少，使我与王同上耶路撒冷呢？

I am eighty years old today. Can I discern between good and bad? Can your servant taste what I eat and what I drink? Can I hear anymore the voice of singing men and women? Why then should your servant be a further burden to my lord the king?
我现在八十岁了，还能尝出饮食的滋味、辨别美恶么？还能听男女歌唱的声音么？仆人何必还累赘我主我王呢？

Your servant would just cross a little way over the Jordan with the king. Why then should the king reward me with such a reward?
仆人只不过略走一点路，陪王过约但河，王何必赐我这样的赏报呢？

Let your servant return that I may die in my city near the grave of my father and my mother. But here is your servant Chimham, let him cross over with my lord the king; and do with him what is good in your sight.
求你准仆人回去，好死在我本城，葬在我父母的墓旁。这里有你的仆人金罕，让他同我主我王过去；你看怎样好，就怎样待他。

And the king said, Chimham shall cross over with me, and I will do with him what is good in your sight; and whatever you wish for me to do, I will do for you.
王说，金罕可以与我一同过去；你看怎样好，我就怎样待他；凡你要我作的，我都必为你成就。

And all the people crossed over the Jordan, and the king crossed over. And the king kissed Barzillai and blessed him, and he returned to his own place.
于是众民过约但河，王也过去。王与巴西莱亲嘴，为他祝福，巴西莱就回本地去了。

So the king crossed over to Gilgal, and Chimham crossed over with him. And all the people of Judah, and half the people of Israel as well, brought the king over.
王过去，到了吉甲，金罕也跟他过去。犹大众民和以色列民的一半也都送王过去。

Then all the men of Israel came to the king and said to the king, Why have our brothers the men of Judah stolen you away and brought the king and his household over the Jordan along with all the men of David with him?
以色列众人来见王，对王说，我们弟兄犹大人为什么偷偷地送王和王的家眷，以及所有属大卫的人过约但河？

And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king is near of kin to us. Why then are you angry about this matter? Have we eaten at all at the king's expense? Or has he given us any gift?
犹大众人回答以色列人说，因为王与我们是亲属，你们为何因这事发怒？我们吃了王的什么呢？王赐了我们什么礼物呢？

And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah and said, We have ten parts in the king, and in David too we have more than you. Why then have you despised us? And were we not the first to speak of bringing our king back? But the speaking of the men of Judah was more prevailing than the speaking of the men of Israel.
以色列人回答犹大人说，按支派，我们在王身上有十分；在大卫身上，我们也比你们更有分。你们为何藐视我们？请王回来不是我们先说的么？但犹大人的话比以色列人的话更硬。

Now there was a worthless fellow there whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjaminite. And he blew the trumpet and said, We have no portion in David, / Nor do we have an inheritance in the son of Jesse. / Every man to his tents, O Israel!
在那里恰有一个卑劣之徒，名叫示巴，是便雅悯人比基利的儿子。他吹角，说，我们在大卫身上无分，在耶西的儿子身上无业。以色列人哪，你们各人回自己的帐棚去吧！

And all the men of Israel went up from following David and followed Sheba the son of Bichri, but the men of Judah clung to their king, from the Jordan to Jerusalem.
于是以色列人都离开大卫上去，不跟随他，却跟随比基利的儿子示巴；但犹大人从约但河直到耶路撒冷，都紧紧跟随他们的王。

And David came to his house at Jerusalem. And the king took the ten concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them under guard; and he provided for them but did not go in unto them. So they were shut up until the day of their death, living like widows.
大卫王来到耶路撒冷自己的宫中，就把从前留下看守宫殿的十个妃嫔放在禁宫里，供养她们，但不与她们亲近。她们被拘禁，过着如同寡妇的生活，直到死的日子。

Then the king said to Amasa, Call the men of Judah to me in three days, and you be present here.
王对亚玛撒说，你要在三日之内将犹大人召集到我这里来，你也要在这里。

And Amasa went to call Judah, but he delayed beyond the time that David appointed to him.
亚玛撒就去召集犹大人，却耽延过了王所限的日期。

Then David said to Abishai, Now Sheba the son of Bichri will do us more harm than Absalom did. You take servants of your lord and pursue after him; otherwise he will find himself some fortified cities and escape out of our sight.
大卫对亚比筛说，现在比基利的儿子示巴必加害我们，比押沙龙更甚。你要带着你主的仆人追赶他，免得他得了坚固城，从我们眼前逃脱。

So the men of Joab went out after him, along with the Cherethites and the Pelethites and all the mighty men; and they went forth from Jerusalem to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.
约押的人和基利提人、比利提人并所有的勇士，都跟着亚比筛，从耶路撒冷出去，追赶比基利的儿子示巴。

When they were at the large stone that is in Gibeon, Amasa came to meet them. And Joab was in military dress, and over it was a belt with a sword in its sheath, fastened on his loins; and when he went forward, it fell out.
他们在基遍的大石那里，亚玛撒迎面而来。那时约押束着战衣，战衣上有佩刀的带子系在腰间，刀在鞘内；约押前行，刀从鞘内掉出来。

And Joab said to Amasa, Is it well with you, my brother? And Joab took hold of Amasa's beard with his right hand to kiss him.
约押左手拾起刀来，对亚玛撒说，我兄弟，你平安么？就用右手抓住亚玛撒的胡子，要与他亲嘴。

But Amasa did not notice the sword which was in Joab's hand. And Joab struck him in the stomach with it and poured out his bowels onto the ground, and he did not strike him a second time; and he died. And Joab and Abishai his brother pursued after Sheba the son of Bichri.
亚玛撒没有防备约押手里所拿的刀；约押用刀刺入他的肚腹，他的肠子流在地上；没有再刺他，他就死了。约押和他兄弟亚比筛往前追赶比基利的儿子示巴。

And one of Joab's young men stood by him and said, Whoever favors Joab and whoever is for David, let him follow Joab.
有约押的一个少年人站在亚玛撒尸身旁边，说，谁喜悦约押，谁归顺大卫，就当跟随约押去。

And Amasa lay wallowing in his blood in the middle of the road, and the man saw that all the people stood still. And when he saw that all who came by him were stopping, he carried Amasa off the road into the field and put a garment over him.
亚玛撒在路当中，辊在自己的血里；那少年人看见众民都站住。他见所有来到亚玛撒尸身旁的人都站住，就把尸身从大路挪到田间，把一件衣服扔在其上。

As soon as he was removed from the road, all the men went on after Joab to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.
尸身从大路挪移之后，众民就都过去，跟随约押去追赶比基利的儿子示巴。

And Sheba went on throughout all the tribes of Israel to Abel and to Beth-maacah and unto all the Berites; and they gathered together and also went after him.
示巴走遍以色列各支派，直到伯玛迦和亚比拉，并所有比利人之地；那些地方的人也都聚集跟随他。

And they came and besieged him at Abel of Beth-maacah; and they cast up a siege mound against the city, and it stood against the rampart. And all the people who were with Joab battered the wall, to throw it down.
约押和跟随的人到了亚比拉和伯玛迦，围困示巴，就对着城筑垒，与城外的外墙相对而立；跟随约押的众民撞击城墙，要使墙塌陷。

And a wise woman from the city cried out, Listen! Listen! Say to Joab, Come near here that I may speak to you.
有一个聪明的妇人从城上呼叫说，听啊，听啊，请对约押说，你走近这里来，我好与你说话。

And he came near to her; and the woman said, Are you Joab? And he said, I am. And she said to him, Listen to the words of your female servant. And he said, I am listening.
约押就走近妇人那里，妇人说，你是约押不是？他说，我是。妇人说，请你听婢女的话。约押说，我在听。

Then she spoke, saying, They used to speak in former times, saying, They shall surely ask for counsel in Abel; and thus they would end matters.
妇人说，古时有话说，当先在亚比拉求问，然后事就定妥。

I am of the peaceable and faithful of Israel; you are seeking to destroy a city and a mother in Israel. Why will you swallow up the inheritance of Jehovah?
我们这城的人在以色列人中是和平、忠信的；你竟想要毁坏以色列中的大城。你为何要吞灭耶和华的产业呢？

And Joab answered and said, Far be it, far be it from me, that I would swallow up or destroy.
约押回答说，绝不是，我绝不吞灭毁坏。

The matter is not so, but a man from the hill country of Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, has lifted up his hand against the king, against David. Deliver him only, and I will depart from the city. And the woman said to Joab, His head will immediately be thrown over the wall to you.
事情不是这样，是因以法莲山地的一个人，比基利的儿子名叫示巴，举手攻击大卫王。你们只要将他一个人交出来，我便离城而去。妇人对约押说，那人的首级必从城墙上丢给你。

So the woman went to all the people in her wisdom; and they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri and threw it to Joab. And he blew the trumpet, and they dispersed from the city, every man to his tent. And Joab returned to Jerusalem to the king.
于是妇人凭她的智慧去劝众人；他们便割下比基利的儿子示巴的首级，丢给约押。约押吹角，众人就离城而散，各人回自己的帐棚去了。约押回耶路撒冷，到王那里。

Now Joab was over all the army of Israel, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and over the Pelethites,
约押统领以色列全军，耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅统管基利提人和比利提人，

And Adoram was over the forced labor, and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder,
亚多兰掌管服苦役的人，亚希律的儿子约沙法作记事官，

And Sheva was scribe, and Zadok and Abiathar were priests,
示法作书记，撒督和亚比亚他作祭司，

And Ira the Jairite was also a chief minister to David.
睚珥人以拉作大卫手下的领袖。
