约一4　 生命在祂里面，这生命就是人的光。

　　约壹五12 人有了神的儿子，就有生命；没有神的儿子，就没有生命。

　　永生（永远的生命）……是圣经中一个很大的题目，并且也可以说，是神在祂的救恩里所赐给我们的最大的福分。关于得着永生，享受永生的福分，圣经给我们看见，是分作三个不同的时期的。一个是在今世得永生，一个是在来世得永生，另一个是在永世享永生。……今世得永生，是在我们相信的时候。我们在今世相信主的时候，就得着永生，不必等到来世或永世才得着。

　　许多人把永生领会错了，以为永生乃是永远的福气。其实圣经给我们看见，永生不是永远的福气，乃是永远的生命。永生虽然能叫我们得到永远的福气，但永生的本身却不是永远的福气，乃是永远的生命。这个永远的生命，在这里说，是起初就有的〔约壹一1〕。只有神的生命，是起初就有的。所以这个永远的生命就是神的生命，是在宇宙和时间之先就有的（李文集一九三二至一九四九年第三册，二九七至二九八页）。

　　永远的生命就是神的生命，因为神是永远的〔约壹一2〕。……神是永远的，是无始无终的，所以祂的生命也是永远的，也是无始无终的。神这个无始无终永远的生命，就是我们平常所说的永生。

　　神的儿子乃是神的化身，神自己是藏在祂儿子里面，所以神的生命，也是在祂儿子里面〔五11~12〕。这个在神儿子里面的生命，就是永生。……话成了肉体的主耶稣就是神的儿子，所以神的生命—永生—是在祂里面，我们接受祂，得着祂，就得着在祂里面的永生。神是把祂的生命，就是永远的生命，当作一个礼物，在主耶稣里白白地赐给我们〔罗六23〕，不需要我们出任何的代价，只要我们接受，就能得着。……永远的生命—神的生命—既是神给我们的一个礼物，就是神赐给我们的，不是神赏给我们的〔约壹五11〕。

　　神爱我们，把祂的生命，就是永远的生命，放在祂儿子里面赐给我们，要我们接受〔约三16〕。接受的方法，就是信入祂的儿子。我们一信入祂的儿子，一用信心接受祂的儿子，我们就得着在祂儿子里面永远的生命。……神既把祂的生命，就是永生，放在祂儿子里面当作礼物赐给我们，就我们一信入祂的儿子，一得着祂的儿子，自然就有了在祂儿子里面的永生〔36〕。

　　我们一听见主的话—福音，而相信了神，我们就有了永远的生命〔五24〕。许多人以为，我们现在信主，等到将来才有永远的生命。岂知“信”和“有”的中间，是没有时间的；……我们一信主，就有永远的生命。我们信了之后，一点不必等，更不必等到将来，立刻就有永远的生命。

　　在基督教里也有许多人以为并主张说，我们信主的人现在不能知道自己有没有永远的生命。但〔约壹五章十三节〕清清楚楚告诉我们，神的话—就是圣经的话—叫我们信的人知道自己有永远的生命。……我们有了这永远的生命，当然就永不灭亡。这生命的永远性质，必使我们永存不亡。并且我们有了永远生命的人，又是在主和父的手里，谁也不能把我们夺去〔约十28~29〕。我们里面有神永远的生命支持我们，外面又有主和父大能的手保守我们，这样我们怎能灭亡？（李文集一九三二至一九四九年第三册，二九八至三○一页）

　　Eternal life is a great topic in the Bible; it is the greatest blessing that God gives us in His salvation. Obtaining eternal life and enjoying the blessings of eternal life are divided into three different periods. The first period involves obtaining eternal life in this age, the second involves obtaining eternal life in the coming age, and the third involves the enjoyment of eternal life in eternity. We obtain eternal life in this age when we believe. When we believe in the Lord in this age, we obtain eternal life. We do not have to wait for the next age or for eternity to obtain it.

　　Many misunderstand and think that eternal life involves a blessing in eternity. Actually, the Bible shows that eternal life is not a blessing in eternity; rather, it is the life of eternity. This eternal life was from the beginning [1 John 1:1]. Only the life of God was from the beginning.
