新约用法只含负面意思：“骄傲的，傲慢的”。路一51（关于διανοίᾳ καρδίας αὐτῶν狂傲人的心，见διάνοια－SG1271二）；罗一30，提后三2。与ταπεινός“谦卑的人”相反（见 箴三33），雅四6，彼前五5。*
