GenesisChapter 46 So Israel set out with all that he had and came to Beer-sheba and 1offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.
And God spoke to Israel in the visions of the night and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here I am.
And He said, I am 1God, the God of your father; do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make of you a great nation there.
I Myself will go down with you to Egypt, and I Myself will also surely bring you up again; and Joseph's hand will close your eyes.
And Jacob rose up from Beer-sheba, and the sons of Israel carried Jacob their father and their little ones and their wives in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.
And they took their livestock and their possessions, which they had acquired in the land of Canaan, and Jacob and all his offspring with him came to Egypt.
His sons and his grandsons with him, his daughters and his granddaughters, and all his offspring he brought with him to Egypt.

And the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
And the sons of Judah: Er and Onan and Shelah and Perez and Zerah; but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. And the sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.
And the sons of Issachar: Tola and Puvah and Iob and Shimron.
And the sons of Zebulun: Sered and Elon and Jahleel.
These are the sons of Leah, whom she bore to Jacob in Paddan-aram, along with his daughter Dinah. His sons and his daughters were thirty-three 1persons in all.
And the sons of Gad: Ziphion and Haggi, Shuni and Ezbon, Eri and Arodi and Areli.
And the sons of Asher: Imnah and Ishvah and Ishvi and Beriah, and Serah their sister; and the sons of Beriah: Heber and Malchiel.

And to Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asenath the daughter of Potiphera priest of On bore to him.
And the sons of Benjamin: Bela and Becher and Ashbel, Gera and Naaman, Ehi and Rosh, Muppim and Huppim and Ard.
These are the sons of Rachel, who were born to Jacob, fourteen persons in all.
And the sons of Dan: Hushim.
And the sons of Naphtali: Jahzeel and Guni and Jezer and Shillem.
These are the sons of Bilhah, whom Laban gave to Rachel his daughter, and she bore these to Jacob, seven persons in all.
All the persons who came with Jacob into Egypt, who came out of his loins, besides the wives of Jacob's sons, were sixty-six persons in all.
And the sons of Joseph, who were born to him in Egypt, were two persons. All the persons of the house of Jacob, who came to Egypt, were seventy.
And he sent Judah before him to Joseph to show the way before him to Goshen, and they came to the land of Goshen.
And Joseph made his chariot ready and went up to Goshen to meet Israel his father. And when he appeared before him, he fell on his neck and wept on his neck a good while.
And Israel said to Joseph, Let me die now since I have seen your face and know that you are still alive.
And Joseph said to his brothers and to his father's household, I will go up and tell Pharaoh, and will say to him, My brothers and my father's household, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me.
And the men are shepherds, for they have been keepers of livestock; and they have brought their flocks and their herds and all that they have.
And when Pharaoh calls you and says, What is your occupation?
You shall say, Your servants have been keepers of livestock from our youth even until now, both we and our fathers; that you may dwell in the land of Goshen, for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians.
GenesisChapter 47 Then Joseph went in and told Pharaoh and said, My father and my brothers and their flocks and their herds and all that they have, have come out of the land of Canaan; and now they are in the land of Goshen.
And he took five men from among his brothers and presented them to Pharaoh.
And Pharaoh said to his brothers, What is your occupation? And they said to Pharaoh, Your servants are shepherds, both we and our fathers.
And they said to Pharaoh, We have come to sojourn in the land because there is no pasture for your servants' flocks, for the famine is severe in the land of Canaan. Now therefore, please let your servants dwell in the land of Goshen.
And Pharaoh spoke to Joseph, saying, Your father and your brothers have come to you.
The land of Egypt is before you; settle your father and your brothers in the best of the land; let them dwell in the land of Goshen. And if you know any capable men among them, make them overseers over my livestock.
And Jacob said to Pharaoh, The years of my sojourning are one hundred thirty years; few and evil have been the years of my life, and they have not attained to the years of the lives of my fathers during the days of their sojourning.
And Jacob blessed Pharaoh and went forth from Pharaoh's presence.
And Joseph settled his father and his brothers and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.
And Joseph sustained his father and his brothers and all his father's household with food according to the number of their little ones.
And there was no food in all the land, for the famine was so very severe that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan languished because of the famine.
And Joseph 1collected all the money that was to be found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan for the grain which they bought, and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house.
And when the money from the land of Egypt and from the land of Canaan had been spent, all the Egyptians came to Joseph saying, Give us food, for why should we die in your presence? For our money is gone.
And Joseph said, Bring your livestock, and I will give you food in exchange for your livestock, if your money is gone.
And they brought their livestock to Joseph, and Joseph gave them food in exchange for the horses and for the flocks of sheep and for the herds of cattle and for the donkeys; and he 1fed them with food in exchange for all their livestock that year.
And when that year had ended, they came to him the second year and said to him, We cannot hide from my lord that our money has been spent, and the herds of cattle are my lord's. There is nothing left in the sight of my lord except our bodies and our lands.
Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land in exchange for food, and we and our land will become servants to Pharaoh. And give us seed that we may live and not die, and that the land may not be desolate.
So Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for every Egyptian sold his field, because the famine was severe upon them; and the land became Pharaoh's.
And as for the people, he removed them to the cities from one end of the border of Egypt even to the other end.
Only the land of the priests he did not buy, for the priests had an assigned portion from Pharaoh, and they lived off their portion which Pharaoh gave them; therefore they did not sell their land.
Then Joseph said to the people, Now that I have this day bought you and your land for Pharaoh, here is seed for you that you may sow the land.
And when harvest comes, you shall give a fifth to Pharaoh, and four-fifths shall be your own as seed of the field and as food for you and for those of your households and as food for your little ones.
And they said, You have saved our lives. May we find favor in the sight of my lord and be Pharaoh's servants.
And Joseph made it a statute concerning the land of Egypt that stands to this day, that Pharaoh should have the fifth; only the land of the priests alone did not become Pharaoh's.
And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goshen; and they acquired possessions in it and were fruitful and multiplied exceedingly.
And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years. Thus the days of Jacob, the years of his life, were one hundred forty-seven years.
And the time for Israel to die drew near. And he called his son Joseph and said to him, If now I have found favor in your sight, please put your hand under my 1thigh and deal with me in kindness and truth. Please do not bury me in Egypt;
But when I 1lie down with my fathers, you shall carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their burial place. And he said, I will do as you have said.
And he said, Swear to me; and he swore to him. Then Israel bowed himself 1at the head of his bed.
GenesisChapter 48 Now after these things Joseph was told, Your father is sick. So he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.
And someone told Jacob and said, Your son Joseph is coming to you. So Israel strengthened himself and sat up on his bed.
And Jacob said to Joseph, The 1All-sufficient God appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan and blessed me.
And He said to me, Behold, I am going to make you fruitful and multiply you, and I will make of you a company of peoples and will give this land to your seed after you for an everlasting possession.
And now your two sons, who were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came to you in Egypt, are 1mine; Ephraim and Manasseh will be mine, as Reuben and Simeon are.
And your offspring whom you beget after them will be yours; they will be called by the name of their brothers in their inheritance.
And as for me, when I came from Paddan, Rachel died 1to my sorrow in the land of Canaan on the way, while there was still some distance to go to Ephrath; and I buried her there on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).
And when Israel saw Joseph's sons, he said, Who are these?
And Joseph said to his father, They are my sons, whom God has given to me here. And he said, Bring them to me, please, that I may bless them.
Now the eyes of Israel were dim with age, and he could not see. So 1Joseph brought them near to him, and he kissed them and embraced them.
And Israel said to Joseph, I never expected to see your face, and now God has let me see your seed also.
And Joseph brought them out from between his knees and bowed himself with his face to the ground.
And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel's left hand and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel's right hand, and brought them near to him.
But Israel stretched out his right hand and laid it upon Ephraim's head — although he was the younger — and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, 1guiding his hands with insight, even though Manasseh was the firstborn.
The Angel who has redeemed me from all evil, bless the boys;
And may my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; And may they be a teeming multitude in the midst of the earth. And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him; and he took hold of his father's hand to remove it from Ephraim's head onto Manasseh's head.
And Joseph said to his father, Not so, my father, for this is the firstborn. Put your right hand upon his head.
But his father refused and said, I know, my son, I know. He also will become a people, and he also will be great. However, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his seed will become a 1multitude of nations.
And he blessed them that day, saying,
By you Israel will pronounce blessings, saying, God make you like Ephraim and like Manasseh. Thus he set Ephraim before Manasseh. And Israel said to Joseph, Now I am about to die, but God will be with you and will bring you again to the land of your fathers.
