MatthewChapter 2
Now after Jesus was born in  1Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem,
Saying, Where is He who has been born  1King of the Jews? For we saw His  2star at its rising and have come to worship Him.
And when Herod the king heard this, he was troubled and all Jerusalem with him.
And gathering together all the chief  1priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.
And they said to him, In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written through the prophet:
“And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, by no means are you the least among the  1princes of Judah; for out of you shall come forth a Ruler, One who will shepherd My people Israel.”
Then Herod, secretly calling the magi, determined accurately from them the time that the star appeared.
And sending them to Bethlehem, he said, Go and find out accurately about the child. And when you find Him, report to me, so that I also may come and worship Him.
And after they heard the king, they went their way, and behold, the  1star which they saw at its rising led them until it came and stood over the place where the child was.
And when they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.
And they came into the  1house and saw the child with Mary His mother. And falling down, they  2worshipped Him; and opening their treasures, they offered  3gifts to Him, gold and frankincense and myrrh.
And because they had been divinely instructed in a dream not to  1return to Herod, they departed by  2another way to their country.
Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph, saying, Arise, take the child and His mother and flee into Egypt, and stay there until I tell you; for Herod is going to seek the child to destroy Him.
And he arose and took the child and His mother by night and departed into Egypt,
And was there until the death of Herod, in order that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be  1fulfilled, saying, “Out of Egypt I called My  2Son.”
Then Herod, seeing that he had been mocked by the magi, became greatly enraged, and sending out men, he  1did away with all the boys who were in Bethlehem and in all its borders from two years old and under, according to the time that he had accurately determined from the magi.
At that time what was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying,
“A voice in Ramah was heard, weeping and great lamentation:  1Rachel weeping for her children, and she would not be comforted, because they are no more.”
And when Herod had died, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
Saying, Arise, take the child and His mother and go into the land of Israel, for those who seek the  1life of the child have died.
And he arose and took the child and His mother and entered into the land of Israel.
But because he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there; and having been divinely instructed in a dream, he departed into the regions of  1Galilee.
And he came and settled in a city called  1Nazareth, so that what was spoken through the  2prophets might be fulfilled, He shall be called a  3Nazarene.

GenesisChapter 3
Now the  1serpent was more crafty than any other animal of the field that Jehovah God had made. And he said to the  2woman,  3Did God really say, You shall not eat of any tree of the garden?
And the woman  1said to the serpent, Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat;
But of the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, You shall not eat of it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.
And the serpent said to the woman, You shall not surely die!
 1For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will become like  2God, knowing good and evil.
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was a delight to the eyes and that the tree was to be desired to make oneself wise, she  1took of its fruit and ate; and she also gave some to her husband with her, and he ate.
 1And the eyes of both of them were opened, and they  2knew that they were naked; and they sewed  3fig leaves together and made loincloths for themselves.
And they heard the  1sound of Jehovah God walking about in the garden in the  2cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of Jehovah God among the trees of the garden.
And  1Jehovah God called to the man and said to him,  2Where are you?
And he said, I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I am naked; so I hid myself.
And He said,  1Who told you that you are naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?
And the man said, The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me fruit from the tree, and I ate.
And Jehovah God said to the woman, What is this that you have done? And the woman said, The serpent deceived me, and I ate.
And Jehovah God said to the serpent,
Because you have done this,
You are  1cursed more than all the cattle
And more than all the animals of the field:
Upon your  2stomach you will go,
And dust you will eat
All the days of your life.
And I will put enmity
Between you and the  1woman
And between your  2seed and her  3seed;
He will  4bruise you on the head,
But you will bruise him on the heel.
To the woman He said,
I will greatly multiply
Your pain in your  1childbearing;
In pain you will bring forth children.
And your desire will be to your husband,
And he will  1rule over you.
And to Adam He said, Because you listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree concerning which I commanded you, saying, You shall not eat of it;
Cursed is the ground because of you;
In  1toil will you eat of it
All the days of your life.
And thorns and thistles will it bring forth for you,
And you will eat the herb of the field;
By the sweat of your face
You will eat bread
Until you return to the ground,
Because from it you were taken;
For dust you are,
And to dust you shall return.
And the man called his wife's name  1Eve, because she was the mother of all living.
And Jehovah God made coats of  1skin for Adam and for his wife and  2clothed them.
And Jehovah God said, Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil; and now,  1lest he put forth his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat and live forever —
Then Jehovah God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to work the ground from which he was taken.
So He drove the man out, and at the east of the garden of Eden He placed the  1cherubim and a flaming sword which turned in every direction to guard the way to the tree of life.

GenesisChapter 4
And the man knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and gave birth to  1Cain and said, I have acquired a man,  2Jehovah.
And again she gave birth, to his brother  1Abel. And Abel was a  2tender of sheep, but Cain was a  3tiller of the ground.
And in the course of time Cain brought an  1offering to Jehovah from the fruit of the ground.
And Abel also brought an  1offering, from the firstlings of his flock, that is, from their fat portions. And Jehovah had regard for Abel and for his offering.
But for Cain and for his offering He had  1no regard. And Cain became very angry, and his countenance fell.
And Jehovah said to Cain, Why are you angry, and why has your countenance fallen?
If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well,  1sin is crouching at the door; and his desire is for you, but you must rule over him.
And Cain said to Abel his brother,  1Let us go into the field. And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against Abel his brother and  2slew him.
Then Jehovah said to Cain, Where is Abel your brother? And he said,  1I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?
And He said, What have you done? The voice of your brother's  1blood is crying out to Me from the ground.
And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand.
When you till the ground, it will no longer yield its strength to you. You will be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth.
And Cain said to Jehovah, My punishment is greater than I can bear.
Now You have driven me out this day from the face of the ground, and from Your face I will be hidden; and I will be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.
And Jehovah said to him, Therefore whoever kills Cain, vengeance will be taken on him sevenfold. And Jehovah put a mark on Cain, so that anyone who found him would not strike him.
And Cain went forth from the presence of Jehovah and dwelt in the land of  1Nod, east of Eden.
And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and gave birth to  1Enoch; and he built a  2city and called the name of the city after the name of his son Enoch.
And Irad was born to Enoch, and Irad begot Mehujael, and Mehujael begot Methushael, and Methushael begot Lamech.
And Lamech took two wives for himself: The name of the first was Adah, and the name of the second Zillah.
And Adah gave birth to Jabal; he was the father of those who dwell in tents and raise cattle.
And his brother's name was Jubal; he was the father of all those who play the lyre and pipe.
And Zillah also gave birth to Tubal-cain, the forger of every cutting instrument of bronze and iron; and the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah.
And Lamech said to his wives,
Adah and Zillah, listen to my voice;
O wives of Lamech, hearken to my speech;
For I have slain a man for wounding me,
Even a young man for striking me.
If Cain is avenged sevenfold,
Then Lamech seventy-sevenfold.
And Adam knew his wife again. And she gave birth to a son and called his name  1Seth, for, she said, God has appointed me another seed instead of Abel, because Cain slew him.
And to Seth also a son was born, and he called his name  1Enosh. At that time men began to  2call upon the name of Jehovah.

GenesisChapter 5
This is the book of the  1generations of Adam.  2When God created Adam, He made him in the  3likeness of God.
Male and female He created them, and He blessed them and called  1their name Adam, on the day when they were created.
And Adam  1lived one hundred thirty years and  1begot a son in his likeness according to his image, and he called his name Seth.
And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years, and he begot more sons and daughters.

And Jared lived after he had begotten Enoch eight hundred years, and he begot more sons and daughters.
And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty-two years, and he died.

And Enoch  1walked with God after he had begotten Methuselah three hundred years, and he begot more sons and daughters.
And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty-five years.
And Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God  1took him.
And Methuselah lived one hundred eighty-seven years and begot Lamech.
And Methuselah lived after he had begotten Lamech seven hundred eighty-two years, and he begot more sons and daughters.
And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty-nine years, and he died.
And Lamech lived a hundred eighty-two years and begot a son.
And he called his name  1Noah, saying, This one will  2give us rest from our work and from the toil of our hands, which come because of the ground which Jehovah has cursed.
And Lamech lived after he had begotten Noah five hundred ninety-five years, and he begot more sons and daughters.
And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy-seven years, and he died.
And Noah was five hundred years old. And Noah begot Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
