And on the next day he, intending to find out for certain why he was accused by the Jews, released him and ordered the chief priests and all the Sanhedrin to come together; and having brought Paul down, he had him stand before them.
第二天，千夫长想要知道犹太人控告保罗的实情，便解开他，吩咐祭司长和全议会的人都聚集，将保罗带下来，叫他站在他们面前。

And Paul, looking intently at the Sanhedrin, said, Men, brothers, I have conducted myself in all good conscience before God until this day.
保罗定睛看着议会，说，诸位，弟兄们，我在神面前行事为人都是凭着无亏的良心，直到今日。

And the high priest Ananias commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth.
大祭司亚拿尼亚就吩咐旁边站着的人打他的嘴。

Then Paul said to him, God is going to strike you, you whitewashed wall. And do you sit to judge me according to the law, and contrary to the law you order me to be struck?
保罗对他说，你这粉饰的墙，神将要击打你了。你坐堂是要按律法审问我，你竟违背律法，吩咐人打我么？

And those standing by said, Do you revile the high priest of God?
站在旁边的人说，你辱骂神的大祭司么？

And Paul said, I did not know, brothers, that he is the high priest; for it is written, “You shall not speak evilly of the ruler of your people.”
保罗说，弟兄们，我不晓得他是大祭司；经上记着，“不可毁谤你百姓的官长。”

And Paul, knowing that one part was Sadducees and the other Pharisees, cried out in the Sanhedrin, Men, brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees; concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am being judged!
保罗看出其中一部分是撒都该人，另一部分是法利赛人，就在议会中喊着说，诸位，弟兄们，我是法利赛人，是法利赛人的子孙；我现在受审问，是为了盼望死人复活。

And when he spoke this, a dissension took place between the Pharisees and Sadducees; and the multitude was divided.
他说了这话，法利赛人和撒都该人便起了争执，会众就分裂了。

For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel nor spirit; but the Pharisees confess both.
因为撒都该人说没有复活，也没有天使和灵；法利赛人却样样都承认。

And there was a great outcry; and some of the scribes of the Pharisees' party rose up and contended, saying, We find nothing evil in this man. And what if a spirit has spoken to him, or an angel?
于是大大地喧嚷起来，有几个法利赛派的经学家站起来争辩说，我们在这人身上看不出什么恶来，说不定有灵或天使对他说过话。

And when much dissension had taken place, the commander, fearing that Paul might be torn to pieces by them, ordered the detachment of soldiers to go down and seize him from their midst and bring him into the barracks.
那时大起纷争，千夫长恐怕保罗被他们扯碎了，就吩咐兵丁下去，把他从众人当中抢出来，带进营楼去。

But in the night following, the Lord stood by him and said, Take courage, for as you have solemnly testified to the things concerning Me in Jerusalem, so also you must testify in Rome.
当夜，主站在保罗旁边说，你当壮胆，你怎样在耶路撒冷郑重地为我作了见证，也必照样在罗马为我作见证。

And when it became day, the Jews formed a plot and put themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink until they had killed Paul.
到了天亮，犹太人就团结同谋，发咒起誓说，若不先杀保罗，就不吃不喝。

And there were more than forty who swore to this conspiracy.
一同起誓订这阴谋的，有四十多人。

They came to the chief priests and the elders and said, We have bound ourselves with a curse to taste nothing until we kill Paul.
他们来到祭司长和长老跟前，说，我们已经厉害地发咒起誓，若不先杀保罗，就不吃什么。

Now therefore you, with the Sanhedrin, notify the commander to bring him down to you, as though you were going to determine more accurately the things concerning him; and we, before he draws near, are ready to do away with him.
现在你们连同议会要通知千夫长，叫他带保罗下到你们这里来，假作要更详确审断他的事；我们已经预备好了，不等他走近，就杀掉他。

There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job; and this man was perfect and upright, and he feared God and turned away from evil.
乌斯地有一个人名叫约伯；这人完全且正直，敬畏神，远离恶事。

And seven sons and three daughters were born to him.
他生了七个儿子，三个女儿。

And his possessions were seven thousand sheep and three thousand camels and five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred female donkeys and a great many servants; and this man was greater than all the sons of the east.
他的家产有七千只羊，三千只骆驼，五百对牛，五百匹母驴，并有许多仆婢；这人在东方人中就为至大。

And his sons would go and hold feasts in each one's house, each on his own day, and they would send word and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them.
他的儿子素常按着各人的日子，在各人家里设摆筵席，并打发人去，请他们的三个姊妹来，与他们一同吃喝。

And when the days of feasting ran their course, Job would send word and sanctify them; and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all; for Job said, Perhaps my children have sinned and have cursed God in their heart. Job did this continually.
筵席的日子轮过了，约伯就打发人去，使他们分别为圣；他清早起来，按着他们众人的数目献燔祭；因为约伯说，说不定我儿子犯罪，心中咒诅了神。约伯常常这样行。

Then one day, when the sons of God came to present themselves before Jehovah, Satan also came among them.
有一天，神的众子来侍立在耶和华面前，撒但也来在其中。

And Jehovah said to Satan, Where have you come from? And Satan answered Jehovah and said, From roving the earth and going about in it.
耶和华问撒但说，你从哪里来？撒但回答说，我从地上走来走去，往返而来。

And Jehovah said to Satan, Have you considered My servant Job? For there is none like him on the earth, a perfect and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil.
耶和华问撒但说，你曾用心察看我的仆人约伯没有？地上没有人像他完全且正直，敬畏神，远离恶事。

Then Satan answered Jehovah and said, Does Job fear God without cause?
撒但回答耶和华说，约伯敬畏神，岂是无故呢？

Have You not set a hedge around him and his household and all that he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his possessions are spread throughout the land.
你岂不是四面圈上篱笆围护他和他的家，并他一切所有的么？他手所作的，你都赐福；他的家产也在地上大大增多。

But stretch forth Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face.
你且伸手，碰他一切所有的，他必当面咒诅你。

And Jehovah said to Satan, Here is all that he has, in your hand; only do not stretch forth your hand against him.
耶和华对撒但说，看哪，凡他所有的，都在你手中；只是不可伸手加害于他。

And Satan went forth from Jehovah's presence.
于是撒但从耶和华面前退去。

Then one day, when his sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their firstborn brother,
有一天，约伯的儿女正在他们长兄的家里，吃饭喝酒，

A messenger came to Job and said, The oxen were plowing, and the donkeys were feeding beside them;
有报信的来见约伯，说，牛正耕地，驴在旁边吃草；

And the Sabeans fell upon them and took them away, and they struck the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to relate these things to you.
示巴人忽然闯来，把牲畜掳去，并用刀杀了仆人；只有我一人逃脱，来报信给你。

While this one was still speaking, another came and said, The fire of God has fallen from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants and devoured them; and I alone have escaped to relate these things to you.
这人还说话的时候，又有人来说，神的火从天上降下来，将群羊和仆人都烧灭了；只有我一人逃脱，来报信给你。

While this one was still speaking, another came and said, The Chaldeans formed three companies and raided the camels and took them, and they struck the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to relate these things to you.
这人还说话的时候，又有人来说，迦勒底人组成三队，忽然闯入骆驼群，把骆驼掳去，并用刀杀了仆人；只有我一人逃脱，来报信给你。

While this one was still speaking, another came and said, Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their firstborn brother;
这人还说话的时候，又有人来说，你的儿女正在他们长兄的家里，吃饭喝酒；

And suddenly a great wind came from beyond the desert and struck the four corners of the house, so that it fell upon the young people and they died; and I alone have escaped to relate these things to you.
不料，有大风从旷野那边刮来，吹袭房屋的四角，房屋倒塌在少年人身上，他们就死了；只有我一人逃脱，来报信给你。

Then Job rose up and tore his clothes and shaved his head and fell to the earth and worshipped.
约伯便起来，撕裂外袍，剃了头，伏在地上敬拜，

And he said, / Naked I came out of my mother's womb, / And naked I will return there. / Jehovah gives and Jehovah takes away; / Blessed be the name of Jehovah.
说，我赤身出于母胎，也必赤身归回。赐给的是耶和华，收取的也是耶和华；耶和华的名是当受颂赞的。

In all this Job did not sin, nor did he charge God with unseemliness.
在这一切的事上，约伯并不犯罪，也不以神为行事失当。

Then one day, when the sons of God came to present themselves before Jehovah, Satan also came among them to present himself before Jehovah.
又有一天，神的众子来侍立在耶和华面前，撒但也来在其中，站在耶和华面前。

And Jehovah said to Satan, Where have you come from? And Satan answered Jehovah and said, From roving the earth and going about in it.
耶和华问撒但说，你从哪里来？撒但回答说，我从地上走来走去，往返而来。

And Jehovah said to Satan, Have you considered My servant Job? For there is none like him on the earth, a perfect and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil. And he still holds fast his integrity, though you have moved Me against him to destroy him without cause.
耶和华问撒但说，你曾用心察看我的仆人约伯没有？地上没有人像他完全且正直，敬畏神，远离恶事；你虽激动我攻击他，无故地毁灭他，他仍然持守他的纯全。

Then Satan answered Jehovah and said, Skin for skin! Indeed all that a man has he will give for the sake of his life.
撒但回答耶和华说，人以皮代皮，为了自己的性命，情愿付出一切所有的。

But stretch forth Your hand, and touch his bone and his flesh; and he will surely curse You to Your face.
你且伸手，伤他的骨头和他的肉；他必当面咒诅你。

And Jehovah said to Satan, Here he is, in your hand; only spare his life.
耶和华对撒但说，他在你手中；只要存留他的性命。

And Satan went forth from Jehovah's presence and struck Job with severe boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.
于是撒但从耶和华面前退去，击打约伯，使他从脚掌到头顶都长了毒疮。

And he took a potsherd with which to scrape himself, and he sat among the ashes.
约伯就坐在炉灰中，拿瓦片刮自己。

Then his wife said to him, Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die.
他的妻子对他说，你仍然持守你的纯全么？你咒诅神，死了吧。

But he said to her, You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Should we receive the good from God but not receive the ill? In all this Job did not sin with his lips.
约伯却对她说，你说话像个愚顽的妇人。难道我们从神得福乐，不也受灾祸么？在这一切的事上，约伯并不以嘴唇犯罪。

Now when Job's three friends heard of all this misfortune that came upon him, each came from his place, Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite; and they together made an appointment to come to console him and comfort him.
约伯的三个朋友，提幔人以利法、书亚人比勒达、拿玛人琐法，听说有这一切的灾祸临到他身上，各人就从本处约会同来，为他悲伤，安慰他。

And when they lifted up their eyes from a distance and did not recognize him, they lifted up their voice and wept; and they all tore their clothes and cast dust over their heads toward heaven.
他们远远地举目观看，认不出他来，就放声大哭；各人撕裂外袍，把尘土向天扬起来，落在自己的头上。

And they sat with him on the ground seven days and seven nights; but none spoke a word to him, for they saw that his pain was very great.
他们七天七夜同他坐在地上；没有人向他说一句话，因为见他极其痛苦。

After this Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth.
此后，约伯开口咒诅自己的生日。

And Job responded and said,
约伯回应说，

Let the day on which I was born perish, / And the night which said, A man has been conceived.
愿我生的那日，和说怀了男胎的那夜，都灭没。

Let that day be darkness; / Let God not seek it from above, / Nor let light shine upon it.
愿那日变为黑暗；愿神不从上面寻找它，愿亮光不照在其上。

Let darkness and the shadow of death reclaim it; / Let a cloud dwell upon it; / Let the things that blacken the day terrify it.
愿黑暗和死荫索取那日；愿密云停在其上；愿日蚀惊吓它。

As for that night, let deep darkness take hold of it; / Let it not rejoice among the days of the year; / Let it not come up in the number of the months.
愿那夜被幽暗夺取，不与年中的日子同乐；也不入月中的数目。

Behold, let that night be barren; / Let no joyous shout come in it.
看哪，愿那夜没有生育；其间也没有欢乐的声音。

Let those curse it who curse the day, / Who are ready to rouse leviathan.
愿那些咒诅日子且善于惹动鳄鱼的，咒诅那夜。

Let its predawn stars be dark; / Let it wait for light and there be none, / And do not let it see the eyelids of the dawn.
愿那夜黎明的星宿变为黑暗；盼亮却不亮，也不见黎明的光线。

For it did not shut up the doors of the womb that bore me, / Nor did it hide trouble from my eyes.
因它没有把怀我胎的门关闭，也没有将患难向我的眼隐藏。

Why did I not die at birth, / Come forth from the womb and expire?
我为何不出母胎而死，不出母腹而绝气？

Why did the knees receive me? / And why the breasts, that I should suck?
为何有膝接收我？为何有乳哺养我？

For now I would have lain down and been undisturbed; / I would have slept; then I would have been at rest
不然，我如今早已躺卧寂静；早已入睡安息，

With kings and counselors of the earth, / Who rebuilt ruins for themselves;
与地上为自己重建废墟的君王和谋士，

Or with princes who had gold, / Who filled their houses with silver.
或与有金子，将银子装满了房屋的掌权者，一同安息；

Or like a miscarriage that has been concealed, I would not have been, / Like infants that do not see the light.
或像隐而未现，不到期而落的胎，归于无有，如同未见光的婴孩。

There the wicked cease from their troubling, / And there the weary rest.
在那里恶人不再搅扰，困乏人得享安息；

Captives are altogether at ease; / They do not hear the voice of the taskmaster.
被囚的人同得安逸，听不见督工的声音。

The small and the great are there, / And the servant is free from his master.
大小都在那里；奴仆脱离主人的辖制。

Why does He give light to him who suffers / And life to the bitter in soul,
祂为何赐光给受患难的人，赐生命给魂中愁苦的人呢？

Who wait for death, but it is not there; / And dig for it more than for hidden treasures;
他们切望死，却不得死；求死胜于求隐藏的珍宝；

Who rejoice to the point of exultation / And are glad when they have found the grave;
他们寻见坟墓就快乐，极其欢喜；

To the man whose way is hidden / And whom God has hedged in?
人的道路既然遮隐，神又把他四面围困，为何赐光和生命给他呢？

For my sighing comes as my food, / And my groaning pours out like water.
我以叹息代替食物，我唉哼的声音涌出如水。

For I dread something, and it comes upon me; / And what I fear comes to me.
因我所恐惧的临到我身，我所惧怕的迎我而来。

I have no ease and I have no quiet / And I have no rest, but trouble comes.
我不得安逸，不得平静，也不得安息；却有搅扰来到。
