创25:22And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If [it be] so, why am I thus? And she went to inquire of Jehovah.

创25:23And Jehovah said to her, Two nations are in thy womb, And two peoples shall be separated from thy bowels; And one people shall be stronger than the other people, And the elder shall serve the younger.

创25:24And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.

创25:25And the first came out red -- all over like a hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.

创25:26And after that came his brother out; and his hand took hold of Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob. And Isaac was sixty years old when they were born.

创25:27And the boys grew, and Esau became a man skilled in hunting, a man of the field; and Jacob was a homely man, dwelling in tents.

创25:28And Isaac loved Esau, because venison was to his taste; and Rebecca loved Jacob.

创25:29And Jacob had cooked a dish; and Esau came from the field, and he was faint.

创25:30And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with the red -- the red thing there, for I am faint. Therefore was his name called Edom.

创25:31And Jacob said, Sell me now thy birthright.

创25:32And Esau said, Behold, I am going to die, and of what use can the birthright be to me?

创25:33And Jacob said, Swear unto me now. And he swore unto him, and sold his birthright to Jacob.

创25:34And Jacob gave Esau bread and the dish of lentils; and he ate and drank, and rose up and went away. Thus Esau despised the birthright.

创26:1And there was a famine in the land, besides the former famine which had been in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to Abimelech the king of the Philistines, to Gerar.

创26:2And Jehovah appeared to him and said, Go not down to Egypt: dwell in the land that I shall tell thee of.

创26:3Sojourn in this land; and I will be with thee and bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries; and I will perform the oath which I swore unto Abraham thy father.

创26:4And I will multiply thy seed as the stars of heaven, and unto thy seed will I give all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth bless themselves --

创26:5because that Abraham hearkened to my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

创26:6And Isaac dwelt at Gerar.

创26:7And the men of the place asked about his wife. And he said, She is my sister; for he feared to say, my wife, [saying to himself,] Lest the men of the place slay me on account of Rebecca -- because she was fair in countenance.
