Subject:The Church — The Mystery of Christ, the Body of Christ as the Fullness of Christ, Becoming the Fullness of God
EphesiansChapter 1
1Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through the 2will of God, to the 3saints who are 4in Ephesus and are 5faithful in Christ Jesus:
1Grace to you and 2peace from 3God our Father and the 4Lord Jesus Christ.
1Blessed be the 2God and Father of 3our Lord Jesus Christ, who has 4blessed us 5with every 6spiritual 7blessing in the 8heavenlies 9in Christ,
Even as He 1chose us in Him 2before the foundation of the world to be 3holy and 4without blemish 5before Him 6in 7love,
1Predestinating us unto 2sonship 3through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the 4good pleasure of His will,
To the 1praise of the 2glory of His grace, with which He 3graced us in the 4Beloved;
In whom we have 1redemption through His blood, the 2forgiveness of offenses, according to the riches of His grace,
Which He caused to 1abound to us in all 2wisdom and prudence,
1Making known to us the 2mystery of His will 3according to His good pleasure, which He 4purposed in Himself,
Unto the 1economy of the 2fullness of the times, to 3head up all things in 4Christ, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth, in Him;
In whom also we 1were designated as an inheritance, having been 2predestinated according to the 3purpose of the One who works all things according to the counsel of His 4will,
That we would be to the 1praise of His glory who have 2first hoped in Christ.
In whom you also, having heard the word of the truth, the gospel of your salvation, in Him also believing, you were 1sealed with the Holy Spirit of the 2promise,
Who is the 1pledge of our 2inheritance 3unto the 4redemption of the 5acquired possession, to the 6praise of His glory.
Therefore I also, having heard of 1the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you and your love to all the saints,
Do not cease giving thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers,
That the 1God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the 2Father of glory, may give to you a 3spirit of 4wisdom and revelation in the full knowledge of Him,
The 1eyes of your heart having been 2enlightened, that you may know what is the 3hope of His 4calling,
and what are the 5riches of the glory of His 6inheritance in the saints,
And what is the surpassing greatness of His 1power toward us who believe, 2according to the operation of the might of His strength,
Which He caused to operate in Christ in 1raising Him from the dead and 2seating Him at His 3right hand in the 4heavenlies,
Far above all 1rule and authority and power and lordship and 2every name that is named not only in this age but also in that which is to come;
And He 1subjected all things under His feet and 2gave Him to be Head over all things 3to the 4church,
Which is His 1Body, the 2fullness of the One who 3fills all in all.
EphesiansChapter 2
1And you, though 2dead in your 3offenses and sins,
In which you once walked according to the 1age of this world, according to the 2ruler of the authority of the air, of the 3spirit which is now operating in the 4sons of disobedience;
Among 1whom 2we also all conducted ourselves once in the 3lusts of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the thoughts, and were by nature 4children of wrath, even as the rest;
1But God, being rich in 2mercy, because of His 3great love with which He loved us,
Even when we were dead in offenses, made us 1alive 2together with 3Christ (by 4grace you have been 5saved)
And 1raised us up 2together with Him and 3seated us together with Him in the 4heavenlies 5in Christ Jesus,
That He might 1display in the 2ages to come the surpassing 3riches of His grace in 4kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
1For by 2grace you have been saved through 3faith, and 4this not of yourselves; it is the gift of God;
Not of works that no one should boast.
For we are His 1masterpiece, 2created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared 3beforehand in order that we would walk in them.
Therefore remember that once you, the Gentiles in the flesh, those who are called 1uncircumcision by that which is called circumcision in the flesh made by hands,
That you were at that time 1apart from Christ, alienated from the 2commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the 3covenants of the promise, having 4no hope and 5without God in the 6world.
1But now in Christ Jesus you who were once 2far off have become 3near in the 4blood of Christ.
For He Himself is 1our 2peace, He who has made 3both one and has broken down the middle 4wall of partition, the 5enmity,
1Abolishing in His 2flesh the 3law of the commandments in 4ordinances, that He might 5create the two 6in Himself 7into 8one new man, so 9making peace,
And might reconcile 1both in 2one Body to 3God through the 4cross, having 5slain the enmity 6by it.
And 1coming, He announced peace as the gospel to you who were 2far off, and peace to those who were 3near,
For 1through Him we both have 2access 3in one Spirit unto the 4Father.
So then 1you are no longer 2strangers and sojourners, but you are 3fellow citizens with the saints and 4members of the household of God,
Being 1built upon the 2foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the 3cornerstone;
In 1whom 2all the building, being 3fitted together, is 4growing into a holy 5temple 6in the Lord;
In whom 1you 2also are being built together into a 3dwelling place of God in 4spirit.
EphesiansChapter 3
1For this cause I Paul, the 2prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you, the Gentiles —
1If indeed you have heard of the 2stewardship of the 3grace of God which was given to me for you,
That by 1revelation the mystery was made known to me, as I have written previously in brief,
By which, in reading it, you can perceive my understanding in the 1mystery of Christ,
Which in other generations was 1not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to His holy 2apostles and prophets in 3spirit,
That in Christ Jesus the Gentiles are 1fellow heirs and 2fellow members of the Body and 3fellow partakers of the promise through the gospel,
Of which I became a 1minister according to the 2gift of the grace of God which was given to me according to the operation of His 3power.
To me, 1less than the least of all saints, was this grace given to announce to the Gentiles the 2unsearchable 3riches of Christ as the gospel
And to enlighten all that they may see what the 1economy of the 2mystery is, which 3throughout the ages has been hidden in God, who created all things,
In order that now to the 1rulers and the authorities in the heavenlies the multifarious 2wisdom of God might be made known through the 3church,
According to the 1eternal purpose which He 2made in 3Christ Jesus our Lord,
In whom we have boldness and 1access in confidence through 2faith in Him.
Therefore I ask you not to faint at my afflictions for your sake, since they are your glory.
For this cause I bow my knees unto the 1Father,
Of whom every 1family in the heavens and on earth is 2named,
1That He would grant you, according to the 2riches of His glory, to be 3strengthened with 4power through His 5Spirit 6into the inner man,
That Christ may make His home in your 1hearts through 2faith,
that you, being 3rooted and grounded in 4love,
May be full of strength to 1apprehend with 2all the saints what the 3breadth and length and height and depth are
And to know the 1knowledge-surpassing love of Christ,
that you may be filled 2unto all the 3fullness of 4God.
1But to Him who is able to do superabundantly above all that we 2ask or think, according to the 3power which operates in us,
To Him be the 1glory in the 2church 3and in 4Christ Jesus unto 5all the generations forever and ever. Amen.
