Bible in One Year
First TimothyChapter 4
1But the 2Spirit says expressly that in 3later times some will depart from the 4faith, giving heed to 5deceiving spirits and teachings of 6demons
1By means of the hypocrisy of men who speak lies, of men who are 2branded in their own conscience as with a 3hot iron,
Who forbid 1marriage and command abstaining from 1foods, which 2God has created to be partaken of with thanksgiving by those who 3believe and have 4full knowledge of the truth.
For 1every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if received with thanksgiving;
For it is 1sanctified through the 2word of God and 3intercession.
If you lay these things before the brothers, you will be a good 1minister of Christ Jesus, 2being nourished with the words of the 3faith and of the 4good teaching which you 5have closely followed.
But the 1profane and old-womanish 2myths 3refuse, and 4exercise yourself unto godliness.
For bodily exercise is profitable for 1a little, but godliness is profitable for 2all things, having 3promise of the present life and of that which is to come.
Faithful is the word and worthy of all acceptance.
For to this end we labor and strive, because we have set our hope on the 1living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.
Charge and teach these things.
Let no one despise your 1youth, but be a pattern to the believers in 2word, in conduct, in love, in faith, in 3purity.
Until I come, attend to the public 1reading, to the exhortation, to the teaching.
Do not neglect the 1gift which is 2in you, which was given to you by means of 3prophecy with the 4laying on of the hands of the 5presbytery.
Practice these things; 1be in them, that your 2progress may be manifest to all.
1Take heed to yourself and to your teaching; continue in these things; for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.
First TimothyChapter 5
Do not 1upbraid an elderly man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers,
Elderly women as mothers, younger women as sisters, in all purity.
1Honor widows who are really widows.
But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to 1show respect toward their own household and to render a 2return to their parents; for this is acceptable in the sight of God.
Now she who is really a widow and is left alone has set her hope on God and continues in petitions and prayers night and day.
But she who gives herself to pleasure is dead while living.
These things also charge, that they may be without reproach.
But if anyone does not provide for 1his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the 2faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
Let a widow be enrolled, not under sixty years old, having been the wife of one man,
1Well attested for good works, if she has brought up children, if she has shown hospitality to strangers, if she has washed the saints' feet, if she has assisted the afflicted, if she has diligently followed every good work.
But younger widows refuse; for when they follow their passions in disregard of Christ, they desire to marry,
And thus have condemnation because they have set aside their first 1pledge.
And at the same time they also learn to be idle, going around from house to house; and they are not only idle but also gossips and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
I will therefore that younger widows marry, 2bear children, keep house, give no opportunity to the opposer for reproach;
For already some have turned aside after Satan.
If any believing woman has widows in her family, let her assist them, and let not the church be burdened, that it may assist those who are really widows.
Let the elders who take the lead well be counted worthy of double 1honor, 2especially those who labor in 3word and teaching.
For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle an ox that is treading out the grain,” and, “The workman is worthy of his pay.”
Against an elder do not 1receive an accusation, except based upon two or three witnesses.
The ones who sin 1reprove before 2all that the rest also may have fear.
I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus and the chosen 1angels that you keep these things without 2prejudice, doing nothing by way of 3partiality.
1Lay hands 2quickly on no man, nor participate in others' sins; keep yourself pure.
1No longer drink water only, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent 2illnesses.
The 1sins of some men are openly 2manifest, going before to judgment; and for others, 3they 4also follow after.
Likewise also the 1good works are openly manifest, and those that are otherwise cannot be hidden.
First TimothyChapter 6
As many as are slaves under the yoke should regard their own masters as worthy of all honor, lest the name of God and 1our teaching be 2blasphemed.
And those who have believing masters should not despise them, because they are brothers; but rather they should 1serve them, because those who recompense them for the kindly service received are believers and beloved. These things teach and exhort.
If anyone teaches 1different things and does not consent to 2healthy words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the teaching which is according to 3godliness,
He is 1blinded with pride, understanding nothing, but is 2diseased with questionings and contentions of words, out of which come envy, strife, 3slanders, evil suspicions,
1Perpetual wranglings of men corrupted in mind and 2deprived of the 3truth, 4supposing godliness to be a means of gain.
But godliness with 1contentment is 2great gain;
For 1we have brought nothing into the world, because neither can we carry anything out.
But having food and 1covering, with these we will be 2content.
But those who 1intend to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful 2desires, which 3plunge men into 4destruction and ruin.
For the love of money is 1a root of all evils, because of which some, 2aspiring after money, have 3been led away from the 4faith and pierced themselves through with many pains.
But you, O 1man of God, flee these things, and pursue 2righteousness, 3godliness, 4faith, 5love, 6endurance, 7meekness.
1Fight the good fight of the faith; lay hold on the 2eternal life, 3to which you were called and have 4confessed the good confession before many witnesses.
I charge you before God, who preserves all things in life, and Christ Jesus, who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate,
To keep 1the commandment spotless, without reproach, until the 2appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
1Which in its own times 2the blessed and only Sovereign will show, the King of those who reign as kings and Lord of those who rule as lords,
Who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen nor can see, to whom be honor and eternal might. Amen.
Charge those who are rich in the present age not to be high-minded, nor to set their hope on the uncertainty of riches but on God, who affords us all things richly for our enjoyment;
To do 1good, to be 2rich in good works, to be ready to distribute, to be ones willing to share;
Laying away for themselves a good foundation as a treasure for the 1future, that they may lay hold on 2that which is really life.
O Timothy, guard the 1deposit, turning away from profane, vain babblings and oppositions from 2what is falsely called knowledge,
