Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to His disciples,

Saying, The  ¹scribes and the  ²Pharisees have seated themselves in Moses' seat;

Therefore all that they tell you, do and keep; but do not do according to their works, for they say things and do not do them.

And they bind burdens, heavy and hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with their finger.

And all their works they do to be seen by men, for they broaden their  ¹phylacteries and enlarge the  ²fringes of their garments,

And they love the place of honor at the dinners and the chief seats in the synagogues

And the salutations in the marketplaces and to be called by men,  ¹Rabbi.

But you, do not be called Rabbi, for  ¹One is your Teacher, and you are all brothers.

And do not call anyone on earth your father, for  ¹One is your Father,  ²He who is in the heavens.

Neither be called  ¹instructors, because  ²One is your Instructor, the Christ.

And the greatest among you shall be your servant.

And he who will exalt himself shall be humbled, and he who will humble himself shall be exalted.

But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees,  ¹hypocrites! For you close off the kingdom of the heavens in the face of men; for you do  ²not enter in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to enter.

 ¹But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour the widows' houses, even while for a pretense you make long prayers. For this reason you shall receive greater  ²judgment.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you go about the sea and the dry land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of  ¹Gehenna as yourselves.

Woe to you, blind guides, who say, Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple,  ¹he is bound.

Fools and blind men, which is greater, the gold or the temple which  ¹sanctifies the gold?

And, Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift which is upon it, he is bound.

Blind men, which is greater, the gift or the altar which  ¹sanctifies the gift?

Therefore he who swears by the altar swears by it and by all the things upon it;

And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by Him who dwells in it;

And he who swears by heaven swears by the throne of God and by Him who sits upon it.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you give a tenth of the mint and the anise and the cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law —  ¹justice and mercy and faithfulness. But these you should have done and  ²not neglected the others.

Blind guides, who strain out the gnat but swallow the camel!

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and the dish, but inwardly they are full of extortion and self-indulgence.

Blind Pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup and the dish so that their outside also may become clean.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you resemble whitewashed graves, which outwardly appear beautiful but inwardly are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness.

So you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build up the graves of the prophets and adorn the tombs of the righteous,

And say, If we had been there in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

So then you testify against yourselves that you are the sons of those who murdered the prophets.

And you, fill up the measure of your fathers!

Serpents! Brood of vipers! How shall you escape the judgment of Gehenna?

Therefore, behold, I send to you  ¹prophets and wise men and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city,

So that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zachariah, son of Barachiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.

Truly I say to you,  ¹All these things shall come upon this generation.

Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often  ¹I desired to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not!

Behold, your  ¹house is left to you  ²desolate.

For I say to you, You shall by no means see Me from now on until you say, Blessed is He who  ¹comes in the name of the Lord.

And you shall make a  ¹veil of blue and purple and scarlet strands and fine twined linen; it shall be made with cherubim, the work of a skillful workman.

And you shall  ¹hang it upon four  ²pillars of acacia overlaid with gold; their  ³hooks shall be of gold, and they shall stand on four  ⁴sockets of silver.

And you shall hang up the veil under the  ¹clasps and bring in the Ark of the Testimony there within the veil; and the veil shall make a separation for you between the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies.

And you shall put the expiation cover upon the Ark of the Testimony in the Holy of Holies.

And you shall set the table outside the veil, and the lampstand opposite the table on the side of the tabernacle toward the south; and the table you shall put on the north side.

And you shall make a  ¹screen for the  ²entrance of the tent, of blue and purple and scarlet strands and fine twined linen, the work of an embroiderer.

And for the screen you shall make five  ¹pillars of acacia and overlay them with gold; their hooks shall be of gold, and you shall cast five sockets of  ²bronze for them.

And you shall make the  ¹altar of  ²acacia wood, a length of  ³five cubits and a width of  ³five cubits; the altar shall be  ⁴square; and  ⁵three cubits, its height.

And you shall make its  ¹horns upon its four corners; its horns shall be of one piece with it, and you shall overlay it with  ²bronze.

And you shall make its pots to remove its ashes, and its shovels and its basins and its forks and its firepans; all its  ¹utensils you shall make of bronze.

And you shall make a  ¹grating, a network of bronze for it; and on the net you shall make four bronze  ²rings at its four ends.

And you shall put it below, under the  ¹ledge of the altar so that the net may reach  ²halfway up the altar.

And you shall make  ¹poles for the altar, poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with bronze.

And its poles shall be put into the rings, and the poles shall be on the two sides of the altar when it is carried.

You shall make it hollow with boards; as it was shown to you in the mountain, so shall they make it.

And you shall make the  ¹court of the tabernacle: On the south side southward there shall be  ²hangings for the court of fine twined  ³linen, a length of one hundred cubits for one side;

And its twenty  ¹pillars and their twenty sockets shall be of bronze; the  ²hooks of the pillars and their  ²connecting rods shall be of silver.

And likewise on the north side, in length there shall be hangings a length of one hundred cubits, and its twenty pillars and their twenty sockets of bronze; the hooks of the pillars and their connecting rods shall be of silver.

And for the width of the court on the west side there shall be hangings of fifty cubits, with their ten pillars and their ten sockets.

And the width of the court on the east side eastward shall be fifty cubits.

And there shall be fifteen cubits of hangings for the one side of the gate, with their three pillars and their three sockets.

And there shall be fifteen cubits of hangings for the other side, with their three pillars and their three sockets.

And for the  ¹gate of the court there shall be a screen of twenty cubits, of blue and purple and scarlet strands and fine twined linen, the work of an  ²embroiderer; with their four pillars and their four sockets.

All the pillars around the court shall be connected with silver, with their hooks of silver and their sockets of bronze.

The length of the court shall be one hundred cubits; and the width,  ¹fifty at each end; and the height,  ²five cubits; of fine twined linen, and their sockets of bronze.

All the utensils of the tabernacle used in all its service and all its  ¹pegs and all the  ¹pegs of the court shall be of  ²bronze.

And you shall command the children of Israel to bring to you pure  ¹oil of beaten olives for the light, to  ²make the lamps burn continually.

In the  ¹Tent of Meeting, outside the veil which is  ²before the Testimony,  ³Aaron and his sons shall maintain it in order from  ⁴evening to morning before Jehovah; it shall be a perpetual statute to be observed throughout their generations by the children of Israel.

And bring near to yourself  ¹Aaron your brother and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may serve Me as a  ²priest — Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons.

And you shall make holy  ¹garments for Aaron your brother,  ²for glory and for beauty.

And you shall speak to all who are wise in heart, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they make Aaron's garments to sanctify him, that he may serve Me as a priest.

And these are the  ¹garments which they shall make: a breastplate and an  ²ephod and a robe and a tunic of  ³checkered work, a turban and a girding sash. So they shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother and for his sons that he may serve Me as a priest.

They therefore shall take the gold and the blue and the purple and the scarlet strands and the fine linen,

And they shall make the ephod of  ¹gold thread, of blue and purple and scarlet strands, and fine twined linen, the work of a skillful workman.

It shall have two  ¹shoulder pieces joined to its two edges, so that it may be joined together.

And the skillfully woven band, which is on it  ¹for its fastening, shall be like it in workmanship, of one piece with it; of gold, of blue and purple and scarlet strands and fine twined linen.

And you shall take two  ¹onyx stones and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israel,

Six of their names on the one stone, and the names of the remaining six on the other stone, according to their birth.

With the work of an engraver in stone, like the engravings of a signet, you shall engrave the two stones, according to the names of the sons of Israel; you shall make them enclosed in  ¹settings of gold.

And you shall put the two stones on the shoulder pieces of the ephod as stones of  ¹remembrance for the sons of Israel. And Aaron shall bear their names before Jehovah on his two shoulders for a  ¹memorial.

And you shall make settings of gold,

And two  ¹chains of pure gold; you shall make them twisted, a corded work, and you shall put the chains of cords on the settings.

And you shall make a  ¹breastplate of  ²judgment, the work of a skillful workman;  ³like the work of the ephod you shall make it; of gold, of blue and purple and scarlet strands, and of fine twined linen you shall make it.

It shall be  ¹square and  ¹doubled; a  ²span its length and a  ²span its width.

And you shall enclose in it enclosures of  ¹stones,  ²four rows of stones: the first row shall be a row of a  ³sardius, a topaz, and an emerald;

And the second row, a  ¹carbuncle, a sapphire, and a diamond;

And the third row, a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst;

And the fourth row, a  ¹chrysolite, and an onyx, and a jasper; they shall be set in gold in their enclosures.

And the stones shall be according to the names of the sons of Israel, twelve, according to their names; they shall be like the  ¹engravings of a signet, each according to its name, for the twelve tribes.

And you shall make on the breastplate twisted  ¹chains, a corded work of pure gold.

And you shall make on the breastplate two  ¹rings of gold and shall put the two rings on the two ends of the breastplate.

And you shall put the two cords of gold in the two rings at the ends of the breastplate.

And you shall put the two other ends of the two cords on the two settings, and put them on the shoulder pieces of the ephod at the front of it.

And you shall make two rings of gold, and you shall put them upon the two ends of the breastplate upon its edge, which is toward the ephod on the inside.

And you shall make two rings of gold and shall put them on the bottom of the two shoulder pieces of the ephod on the front of it, close to the place where it is joined, above the skillfully woven band of the ephod.

And they shall bind the breastplate by its rings to the rings of the ephod with a  ¹cord of blue strands, that it may be upon the skillfully woven band of the ephod and that the breastplate may not come loose from the ephod.

So Aaron shall bear the names of the sons of Israel in the breastplate of judgment on his heart when he goes into the sanctuary, for a  ¹memorial before Jehovah continually.

And you shall put in the breastplate of  ¹judgment the  ²Urim and the  ³Thummim; and they shall be on Aaron's heart when he goes in before Jehovah, and Aaron shall bear the  ¹judgment of the children of Israel on his heart before Jehovah continually.

And you shall make the  ¹robe of the ephod all of  ²blue strands.

And there shall be an opening for the head in its center; around its opening there shall be a binding edge of woven work, like the opening of a  ¹coat of mail, so that it will not be torn.

And you shall make on its hem  ¹pomegranates of blue and purple and scarlet strands, all around its hem, and  ¹bells of gold between them all around:

A golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, on the hem of the robe all around.

And it shall be upon Aaron when he ministers, and its sound shall be heard when he goes into the sanctuary before Jehovah and when he comes out, so that he may not die.

And you shall make a  ¹plate of pure gold and engrave upon it, like the engravings of a signet:  ²HOLINESS TO JEHOVAH.

And you shall put it on a  ¹cord of blue strands, and it shall be on the turban; it shall be at the front of the turban.

And it shall be upon Aaron's forehead, and Aaron shall bear the iniquity of the  ¹holy things, which the children of Israel sanctify for all their  ¹holy gifts; and it shall always be on his forehead, that they may be accepted before Jehovah.

And you shall weave the  ¹tunic of fine linen, and you shall make a  ¹turban of fine linen, and you shall make a  ¹girding sash, the work of an embroiderer.

And for Aaron's sons you shall make tunics, and you shall make for them girding sashes, and you shall make for them high hats, for glory and for beauty.

And you shall put them upon Aaron your brother and upon his sons with him, and you shall anoint them and  ¹consecrate them and sanctify them, that they may serve Me as priests.

And you shall make them linen trousers to cover their  ¹naked flesh; they shall reach from the loins even to the thighs;

And they shall be upon Aaron and upon his sons when they go into the Tent of Meeting or when they come near to the altar to minister in the sanctuary, that they may not bear iniquity and die. It shall be a perpetual statute for him and for his seed after him.
