Subject:The Maintenance of Order in the Church
TitusChapter 1
Paul, a slave of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ according to the 1faith of God's 2chosen ones and the 3full knowledge of the truth, which is 4according to godliness,
In the 1hope of 2eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, 3promised 4before the times of the ages
But in 1its own times manifested 2His word in the proclamation with which I was entrusted according to the 3command of our Savior God;
To Titus, genuine child according to the 1common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.
For this cause I left you in Crete, that you might set in order the things which I have begun that remain and appoint elders in 1every city, as I directed you:
If anyone is unreprovable, the 1husband of one wife, having believing children not accused of dissoluteness or unruly.
For the 1overseer must be unreprovable as a steward of God, not self-willed, 2not quick tempered, 3not an excessive drinker, 4not a striker, 5not greedy for base gain;
But 1hospitable, a lover of good, 2of a sober mind, righteous, 3holy, self-controlled;
1Holding to the 2faithful word, which is according to the 3teaching of the apostles, that he may be able both to exhort by the 4healthy teaching and to 5convict 6those who oppose.
For there are many unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers, especially 1those of the circumcision,
Whose mouths must be 1stopped, who overthrow whole households, teaching things 2for the sake of base gain, which they ought not to do.
One from among 1themselves, a 2prophet of their own, said, Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, idle 3gluttons.
This testimony is true; for which cause 1reprove them 2severely that they may be 3healthy in the 4faith,
Not paying attention to Jewish 1myths and the 2commandments of men who 3turn away from the 4truth.
1All things are pure to the pure; yet to those who are 2defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure, but both their 3mind and their conscience are 2defiled.
They 1profess to know God, but by their works they deny Him, being abominable and disobedient and, as to every good work, 2disapproved.
TitusChapter 2
But you, speak the things which are fitting to the 1healthy teaching.
Exhort older men to be 1temperate, 2grave, 3of a sober mind, 4healthy in faith, in love, in endurance;
Older women likewise to be in 1demeanor as befits those who engage in 2sacred things, 3not slanderers, nor 4enslaved by much wine, 5teachers of what is good,
That they may 1train the young women 2to love their husbands, to love their children,
To be of a sober mind, pure, workers at home, 1good, subject to their own husbands, that the 2word of God would not be 3blasphemed.
The younger men likewise exhort to be of a sober mind,
Concerning all things 1presenting yourself as a pattern of good works: in your teaching showing incorruption, 2gravity,
Healthy speech that cannot be 1condemned, that 2he who opposes may be put to shame, having 3nothing evil to say about us.
Exhort 1slaves to be subject to their own masters in all things, to be well pleasing, not contradicting,
Not pilfering, but showing all good 1faithfulness that they may 2adorn the teaching of our 3Savior God in all things.
1For the 2grace of God, 3bringing salvation to all men, has 4appeared,
Training us that, denying 1ungodliness and 2worldly lusts, we should live 3soberly and 4righteously and godly in the present age,
1Awaiting the 2blessed hope, even the appearing of the 3glory of our 4great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,
Who gave Himself 1for us that He might 2redeem us from all lawlessness and purify to Himself a 3particular people as His unique possession, zealous of good works.
1These things speak, and exhort and 2convict with all 3authority. 4Let no one despise you.
TitusChapter 3
Remind them to be 1subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready unto every good work,
To slander no one, to be 1uncontentious, 2gentle, showing all meekness toward all men.
For we also 1were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving as slaves various 2lusts and pleasures, spending our lives in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.
But when the 1kindness and the love to man of our Savior God appeared,
Not out of 1works in righteousness which we did but according to His 2mercy He saved us, through the 3washing of 4regeneration and the renewing of the 5Holy Spirit,
Whom He 1poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
1In order that having been justified by 2His grace, we might become 3heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Faithful is 1the word, and concerning 2these things I desire you to 3confidently affirm, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to maintain respectable works. These things are good and profitable to men.
But 1avoid foolish 2questionings and 3genealogies and 4strifes and 5contentions about the 6law, for they are unprofitable and 7vain.
A 1factious man, after a first and second admonition, 2refuse,
Knowing that such a one is 1perverted and is sinning, though he is condemned by his own self.
When I send Artemas to you or Tychicus, be diligent to come to me at 1Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there.
1Zenas the 2lawyer and Apollos send forward diligently that nothing may be lacking to them.
And let those also who are ours learn to maintain respectable works for their necessary needs, that they may not be unfruitful.
All who are with me greet you. Greet those who love us in 1faith. Grace be with you all.

PhilemonChapter 1
Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy the brother, to Philemon our beloved and fellow worker
And to 1Apphia the sister and to 1Archippus our fellow soldier and to the 2church, which is in your house:
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
I thank my God always, making mention of you in my prayers,
Hearing of your 1love and the faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and to all the saints,
That the fellowship of your faith may become effective in the 1full knowledge of 2every good thing which is in 3you 4for Christ.
1For I had much joy and encouragement over your love, because the 2inward parts of the saints have been 3refreshed through you, brother.
Therefore though I have much boldness in Christ to charge you what is fitting,
Because of love I rather entreat, being such a one as Paul 1the aged and now also a 2prisoner of Christ Jesus.
I entreat you concerning my child, whom I have 1begotten in my bonds, 2Onesimus,
Who formerly was 1useless to you but now is 2useful both to you and to me.
Him I have sent back to you — him, that is, my 1very heart —
Whom I intended to keep with myself that on your behalf he might minister to me in the bonds of the gospel.
But 1without your mind I did not want to do anything, that your goodness would not be as of necessity, but voluntary.
1For 2perhaps for this reason he was separated from you for but an hour, that you might 3fully have him forever,
1No longer as a slave, but 2above a slave, a 3beloved brother, especially to me, but how much more to you, 4both in the flesh and in the Lord.
If then 1you hold me as a 2partner, receive him as myself.
And if he has 1wronged you in anything or owes anything, charge that to 2my account.
I, Paul, have written with my own hand: I will 1repay; not to say to you that you owe me even 2your own self besides.
Yes, brother, may I have 1profit from you in the Lord; 2refresh my 3inward parts in Christ.
Having confidence in your obedience, I have written to you, knowing that you will do even beyond the things that I say.
And at the same time also prepare me a lodging, for I 1hope that through your prayers I will be 2graciously given to you.
1Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, greets you;
As do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, Luke, my fellow workers.
The 1grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your 2spirit.
