And after it had been three months, we put out to sea in an Alexandrian ship which had wintered in the island, with the twin sons of Zeus for its figurehead.

And having landed at Syracuse, we remained three days.
到了叙拉古，我们停泊三日。

From there we sailed around and arrived at Rhegium. And after one day a south wind came on, and the second day we came to Puteoli,
又从那里绕行，来到利基翁。过了一天，起了南风，第二天就来到部丢利，

Where, having found brothers, we were urged to remain with them seven days. And thus we came to Rome.
在那里遇见弟兄们，恳求我们与他们同住了七天；这样，我们来到了罗马。

And from there the brothers, having heard about the things concerning us, came as far as the Market of Appius and Three Inns to meet us; and when Paul saw them, he thanked God and took courage.
那里的弟兄们，一听见我们的事，便来到亚比乌市和三馆迎接我们，保罗见了他们，就感谢神，壮起胆来。

And when we entered into Rome, Paul was permitted to remain by himself with the soldier who was guarding him.
当我们进了罗马，保罗蒙准和一个看守他的兵丁另住一处。

And after three days he called together those who were the leading men of the Jews; and when they came together, he said to them, Men, brothers, though I have done nothing against the people or the customs of our fathers, I have been delivered as a prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans,
过了三天，保罗召集犹太人的首领来。等他们到齐了，就对他们说，诸位，弟兄们，我虽没有作什么事干犯本国的百姓，或祖宗的规例，却成了囚犯，从耶路撒冷解到罗马人的手里。

Who, having examined me, intended to release me, because there was not one cause of death in me.
他们审问了我，就愿意释放我，因为在我身上并没有该定死罪的。

But when the Jews spoke against this, I was compelled to appeal to Caesar, not that I have anything to accuse my nation of.
无奈犹太人不服，我才被迫上诉于该撒，并非有什么事要控告我本国的百姓。

For this cause therefore, I have entreated you to see me and speak with me; for on account of the hope of Israel I have this chain around me.
为这缘故，我恳求你们来见面谈论；我原是为了以色列所盼望的，才戴上这锁链。

And they said to him, We have neither received letters from Judea concerning you, nor have any of the brothers come and reported or spoken anything evil concerning you.
他们对他说，我们并没有接到从犹太来论你的信，弟兄中也没有人来报告，或说到你有什么不好。

But we think it is fitting to hear from you what you think, for concerning this sect it is indeed known to us that it is spoken against everywhere.
但我们认为应该听听你怎样想，因为我们晓得，这个教派是到处遭反对的。

And once they had appointed a day for him, many came to him at his lodging, to whom he expounded these matters, solemnly testifying of the kingdom of God and persuading them concerning Jesus from both the Law of Moses and the Prophets, from morning until evening.
他们和保罗约定了日子，就有更多的人到他的住所来，保罗从早到晚对他们讲解，郑重见证神的国，引摩西的律法和众申言者的书，以耶稣的事劝服他们。

And some were persuaded by the things which were said, but others did not believe.
他所说的，有的信服，有的不信。

And when they disagreed with one another, they departed, Paul saying one word to them, Well has the Holy Spirit spoken through Isaiah the prophet to your fathers,
他们彼此不合，就散了。散去以前，保罗说了一句话：圣灵借申言者以赛亚，向你们祖宗所说的话，是不错的，祂说，

Saying, “Go to this people and say, In hearing you shall hear and by no means understand, and seeing you will see and by no means perceive;
“你去对这百姓说，你们听是要听见，却绝不领悟；看是要看见，却绝看不透；

For the heart of this people has become fat, and with their ears they have heard heavily, and their eyes they have closed, lest they perceive with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart, and they turn around, and I will heal them.”
因为这百姓心蒙脂油，耳听不灵，眼睛闭着；恐怕他们眼睛看见，耳朵听见，心里领悟，回转过来，我就医治他们。”

Let it be known to you therefore that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will also hear it.
所以你们当知道，神这救恩如今已传给外邦人，他们也必听。

And when he had spoken these things, the Jews departed, having much dispute among themselves.
保罗说了这话，犹太人中大起争论，就都走了。

And he remained two whole years in his own rented dwelling and welcomed all those who came to him,
保罗在自己所租的房子里，住了足足两年，欢迎一切前来见他的人，

Proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching the things concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness, unhindered.
全然放胆宣扬神的国，并教导主耶稣基督的事，毫无阻碍。

Then Job answered and said,
约伯回答说，

How you have helped him who is without power! / How you have saved the arm of him who is without strength!
无能的人，蒙你何等的帮助！膀臂无力的人，蒙你何等的拯救！

How you have counseled him who is without wisdom / And have plentifully declared sound knowledge!
无智慧的人，蒙你何等的指教；你向他指示的智谋何其多！

To whom have you uttered words? / And whose spirit has come forth from you?
你向谁发出言语？谁的灵从你而出？

The deceased are made to tremble / Beneath the waters, and those who inhabit them.
阴魂在诸水以下战兢，住在水中的也是如此。

Sheol is naked before Him, / And Abaddon has no covering.
在神面前阴间赤露敞开，灭亡之地也无所遮掩。

He stretches out the north over the void; / He hangs the earth upon nothing.
神将北极铺在空中，将大地悬于虚无之上；

He binds up the waters in His thick clouds, / And the cloud is not rent under them.
祂将水包在密云中，水下的云却不破裂。

He covers the face of His throne; / He spreads His cloud over it.
祂遮蔽自己的宝座，将云铺在其上；

He drew a circle on the surface of the waters / As a boundary of the light and the darkness.
在水面划出圆圈为界，作为光暗的交界。

The pillars of heaven shook / And were astounded at His rebuke.
天的柱子因祂的斥责震动惊奇。

By His power He stilled the sea, / And by His understanding He struck down Rahab.
祂以能力平静大海，祂借聪明打伤拉哈伯；

By His Spirit the heavens became beauty; / His hand pierced the fleeing serpent.
借祂的气使天晴朗；祂的手刺透快逃的蛇。

Indeed, these are but the fringes of His ways; / And how small a whisper do we hear of Him! / But as for the thundering of His mightiness, who can comprehend it?
看哪，这些不过是神作为的些微；我们所听于祂的，是何等细微的声音！至于祂大能的雷声，谁能明了呢？

Then Job again took up his discourse and said,
约伯继续他的讲论，说，

As God lives, who has taken away my right, / And the Almighty, who has embittered my soul,
我指着那夺去我的理的永活神，就是那使我魂愁苦的全能者起誓，

As long as my breath is in me / And the spirit of God is in my nostrils,
只要我的气息尚在我里面，神的气仍在我的鼻孔内，

Surely my lips will not speak anything wrong, / Nor will my tongue utter deceit.
我的嘴必不说不义之言，我的舌也不发诡诈之语。

Far be it from me to declare you righteous! / Until I die, I will not put away my integrity from me.
我绝不称你们为义！我至死必不丢弃自己的纯全。

To my righteousness I will hold fast, I will not let it go; / My heart does not reproach me for any of my days.
我持定我的义，必不放松；在我一生的日子，我的心必不责备我。

May my enemy be like a wicked man, / And may he who rises up against me be like someone unjust.
愿我的仇敌如恶人一样，愿那起来攻击我的，如不义之人一般。

For what is the hope of the profane man when God cuts him off, / When He takes away his soul?
不虔敬的人被神剪除，神夺取其命的时候，他还有什么指望呢？

Will God hear his cry / When distress comes upon him?
患难临到他，神岂听他的哀声？

Does he take delight in the Almighty? / Will he call upon God at all times?
他岂以全能者为乐，随时呼求神呢？

I will teach you about the hand of God; / What is with the Almighty I will not conceal.
神的作为，我要指教你们；关于全能者的事，我也不隐瞒。

Indeed, all of you have seen it yourselves; / And why then have you become altogether vain?
你们自己其实也都见过；为何你们竟全然变为虚妄呢？

This is the portion with God for a wicked man, / And the inheritance that oppressors receive from the Almighty:
恶人在神那里所有的分，强暴人从全能者所得的报，乃是这样：

If his children are multiplied, it is for the sword; / And his offspring will not be satisfied with bread;
倘或他的儿女增多，还是被刀剑所杀；他的子孙必不得饱食。

Those who remain of him will be buried in death, / And his widows will not lament.
他所遗留的人，必死而埋葬；他的寡妇也不哀哭。

Though he heaps up silver like dust / And prepares garments like clay,
他虽堆积银子如尘沙，预备衣服如泥土；

He may prepare them, but the righteous will wear them; / And the innocent will divide the silver.
他只管预备，义人却要穿上；他的银子，无辜的人要分取。

He builds his house as a moth does / And like a hut that a watchman makes.
他建造房屋如蠹虫作窝，又如守望者所搭的棚。

He lies down rich but will be rich no more; / He opens his eyes, and he is not.
他躺卧时虽然富足，却不再富足；一睁开眼，他的财富就不在了。

Terrors overtake him like waters; / At night a whirlwind steals him away.
惊恐如众水将他追上，暴风在夜间将他刮去。

The east wind carries him off, and he goes; / And it sweeps him out of his place.
东风把他飘去，又把他刮离本处。

And God hurls at him and does not spare; / He hastily flees from His hand.
神要向他射箭，并不留情；他急忙要逃脱神的手。

Men clap their hands at him / And hiss him out of his place.
人要向他拍掌，并发叱声，赶他离开本处。

There is certainly a mine for silver, / And a place for gold to be refined.
银有矿坑，金有冶炼之处。

Iron is taken out of the earth, / And copper is smelted from rock.
铁从地里挖出，铜从石中熔炼。

The miner sets an end to the darkness, / And to the very end he searches out / The stones of deep darkness and of gloom.
采矿人为黑暗定终点，探究幽暗阴翳中的石头，直到极处；

He breaks open a shaft apart from where men dwell; / They are forgotten by the foot; / They are suspended apart from men, they sway about.
他们在无人居住之处刨开矿穴，过路的人也想不到他们；他们与人远离，悬在空中摇来摇去。

The earth — from it comes forth food, / Yet underneath it, it is turned up as it were by fire.
至于地，粮食由其中而出；地下却像被火翻转。

Its stones are the place of sapphires, / And its dust has gold.
地中的石头乃蓝宝石之处，其尘沙含有金子。

It is a path known by no bird of prey, / And the falcon's eye has not seen it.
矿中的路，鸷鸟不知道，鹰眼也未见过；

The proud beasts have not trodden it; / The fierce lion does not pass along it.
骄傲的野兽未曾踏过；凶猛的狮子也未曾经过。

The miner sends forth his hand into the flinty rock; / He overturns the mountains by its roots.
人伸手凿开坚石，从山根把山倾倒。

He cuts out channels in the rocks, / And his eye sees every precious thing.
在磐石中凿出水道，亲眼看见各样宝物。

He dams up the streams so that they do not trickle, / And that which is hidden he brings out to the light.
他堵截河川，使其不得滴流，使隐藏的物显露见光。

But where shall wisdom be found? / And where is the place of understanding?
然而智慧何处可寻？聪明之处在哪里？

Man does not know its price, / Nor is it found in the land of the living.
智慧的价值无人知道，在活人之地也无处可寻。

The deep says, It is not in me; / And the sea says, It is not with me.
深渊说，不在我里面；沧海说，不在我这里。

Rare gold cannot be given for it, / Nor can silver be weighed out for its price.
智慧不能用稀贵的金换得，也不能称银子为其价值。

It cannot be balanced with the gold of Ophir, / With precious onyx or with sapphire.
俄斐金、贵重的红玛瑙或蓝宝石，都不足与较量。

Gold and glass cannot compare with it, / Nor can vessels of fine gold be exchanged for it.
金子和玻璃，不足与比较，精金的器皿，也不足与交换。

Coral and crystal cannot be mentioned with it; / Indeed the acquisition of wisdom is above that of pearls.
珊瑚和水晶，都不足论；取得智慧，胜过取得珍珠。

The topaz of Cush cannot compare with it, / Nor can it be balanced with pure gold.
古实的黄玉，不足与比较，纯金也不足与较量。

From where then does wisdom come? / And where is the place of understanding?
这样，智慧从何处来？聪明之处在哪里？

For it is hidden from the eyes of all living / And concealed from the birds of heaven.
智慧向一切活物的眼目隐藏，向空中的飞鸟掩蔽。

Abaddon and Death say, / We have heard a report of it with our ears.
灭没和死亡说，我们曾亲耳听见其传闻。

God understands the way to it; / He knows its place.
神明白智慧的道路，晓得智慧的所在。

For He sees to the ends of the earth; / He beholds all that is under heaven.
因祂鉴察直到地极，遍观普天之下。

When He gave weight to the wind / And apportioned the water by measure,
祂为风定轻重，按度量分配诸水，

When He made a decree for the rain / And a way for the thunderbolt;
祂为雨水设定例，为雷电定道路；

Then He saw it and declared it; / He established it and even searched it out.
那时祂看见智慧，而且述说；祂坚定智慧，并且查究。

And He said to man, / Indeed, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; / And to depart from evil is understanding.
祂对人说，看哪，敬畏主就是智慧，远离恶便是聪明。

Then Job again took up his discourse and said,
约伯继续他的讲论，说，

Oh that I were as in the months of old, / As in the days when God watched over me;
惟愿我的景况如从前的月分，如神保守我的日子；

When His lamp shone over my head, / And by His light I walked through darkness;
那时祂的灯照在我头上，我借祂的光行过黑暗。

As I was in the days of my prime, / When intimate counsel with God was over my tent;
我愿如壮年的日子，那时神眷临我的帐棚，给我亲密的指教；

When the Almighty was yet with me, / And my children were around me;
全能者仍与我同在，我的儿女都环绕我；

When my steps were bathed in milk, / And the rock poured out for me streams of oil!
我的脚在奶中洗濯，磐石为我出油成河！

When I went out to the gate of the city, / When I prepared my seat in the square,
我出到城门，在广场设立我的座位，

The young men saw me and hid themselves, / And the aged rose up and stood.
少年人看见我就回避，老年人也起身站立。

Princes refrained from talking / And laid their hand over their mouth.
掌权者都停止说话，用手捂口；

The voice of the nobles was hushed, / And their tongue stuck to the roof of their mouth.
领袖静默无声，舌头贴住上膛。

For when the ear heard me, it blessed me; / And when the eye saw me, it bore witness to me;
耳朵听见我的，就称我有福；眼睛看见我的，便作证称赞我；

Because I delivered the poor man who cried out, / And the orphan who had no one to help him.
因我拯救哀求的困苦人，和无人帮助的孤儿。

The blessing of him who was perishing came upon me, / And I made the widow's heart shout for joy.
将要灭亡的为我祝福，我也使寡妇心中欢呼。

I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; / My justice was like a robe and a turban.
我穿上公义，公义就作了我的衣服；我的公平如同外袍和冠冕。

I was eyes to the blind, / And I was feet to the lame.
我成了瞎子的眼，瘸子的脚。

I was a father to the needy, / And the cause of him whom I did not know I investigated.
我作了穷乏人的父，又为素不认识的人查明案件。

I broke the jaws of the unjust / And made him drop the prey from his teeth.
我打破不义之人的牙床，使他所抓得的从牙缝掉落。

Then I said, I will die in my nest, / And I will multiply my days like the sand.
于是我说，我必死在家中；我必增添在世的日子，多如尘沙。

My root is spread out to the water, / And dew abides on my branch at night.
我的根蔓延到水边，露水终夜沾在我的枝上。

My glory is always new with me, / And my bow is renewed in my hand.
我的荣耀在身上常新，我的弓在手中重新得力。

Men listened to me and waited, / And they were silent for my counsel.
人聆听我而期待，静默等候我的指教。

After my words they spoke not again, / And my speech distilled like dew upon them.
我说话之后，他们就不再说；我的言语像雨露滴在他们身上。

And they waited for me as for the rain, / And they opened their mouth wide as for the late rain.
他们期待我如期待雨水；又张开口如切慕春雨。

I smiled on them — they could not believe it; / And they did not cast down the light of my countenance.
我向他们含笑，他们不敢置信；他们并没有使我脸上的光黯淡。

I chose the way for them and sat as chief, / And I dwelt as a king among the troops, / As one who comforts those who mourn.
我为他们选择道路，又坐首位；我如君王在军队中居住，又如吊丧的安慰伤心人。
