约书亚一章三节指明,虽然神已将美地赐给以色列人,但以色列人仍需要取得那地;他们需要与神合作,起来取得那地,以完成神的任命:

约书亚引领以色列人进入应许之地,占有、取得、并享受那地─6节。

以色列成了团体的约书亚,蒙神拣选、呼召、救赎、拯救、训练、并预备好,已经合格,与神是一,往前去得着迦南地。

为要取得包罗万有的基督,我们必须作今天的约书亚,去争战取得那地,并享受基督作我们的产业。
贰
没有基督的身体,我们就不能享受基督作美地;我们必须与身体是一,为美地争战,以取得美地,并分得美地的一份─民三二1~32,书二二1~9。
参
我们需要认识迦南地上异族的属灵意义:
一
占据美地的各个异族,表征我们天然生命不同的方面─出二三23,注1:

异族的神(偶像─24)及其背后的鬼魔,(参林前十20,)代表邪恶的属灵势力。(弗六12。)

在我们天然生命的背后乃是邪恶的势力,(参太十六23,)利用、操纵、并指使我们天然生命的各方面,阻挠我们据有包罗万有的基督并享受祂的丰富。
3
因着天然生命阻挠我们据有基督并享受基督,所以我们必须恨恶它,(路十四26,)并且我们在基督里长大时,必须乐意将它赶出去。

神不是一次就将我们天然的生命(由异族所表征)全部剪除,(出二三29,)因为这样作会使我们里面成为真空,有被鬼魔(由田野的兽所表征─参太十二43~45)占据的危险:
a
神乃是按照我们在神圣生命里长大的程度,渐渐的,一点一点的剪除我们的天然生命。(出二三30。)
b
基督越在我们里面扩增,祂就越顶替我们天然的生命。
c
基督越在我们里面扩增,我们就越能与神合作,把天然的生命撵出去。(31。)
二
迦南人表征与邪灵,与空中撒但黑暗权势联结的人类─民十四45,注1。

迦南人预表跟随撒但背叛的堕落天使,(启十二4,7,)他们成了撒但国里执政的、掌权的和有权势的(参但十13,20)─民二一1,注1:

在旧约的预表里,迦南有两方面:
a
积极一面,迦南是丰美之地,(申八7~10,7注1,注2,)预表包罗万有的基督同祂追测不尽的丰富。(西一12,弗三8。)
b
消极一面,迦南表征撒但黑暗国度的空中部分,天上部分。

撒但是这世界的王(约十二31)和空中掌权者的首领,(弗二2,)有他的权势(徒二六18)和他的使者,(太二五41,)这些使者是他的从属,就是那些执政的、掌权的,掌管这黑暗世界的;(弗六12;)因此,他有他的国,就是黑暗的权势。(西一13。)

以色列人与迦南人争战,好据有并享受美地,预表整个召会,包括众肢体,都有份于属灵的争战,抵挡“诸天界里那邪恶的属灵势力,”(弗六12,)使圣徒得以享受基督作包罗万有的美地。
肆
召会必须是团体的战士,与撒但空中的权势争战,使神的子民得着更多的基督,以建造基督的身体,建立并扩展神的国,使基督能回来承受地─10~20节,三8,16~21。
伍
“我们都需要认识什么是恢复,这恢复在那里,怎样的人能带这恢复往前。我们都需要看见,今天在主的恢复里,我们是在战场上。我们该是今日的约书亚和迦勒,与撒但空中的权势争战,使我们得着更多的基督以建造基督的身体,建立并扩展神的国,使基督能回来承受地。我们仅仅属灵、圣别并不够。我们需要向约书亚和迦勒学习,代表神今时代的权益,击败仇敌,使基督给人得着,并使基督借祂的追求者得着扩增。”(约书亚记生命读经,七五页。)
